I would assume they are very similar to the K&N filter, and thus, you would need to wash them, and use the K&N oiling kit.

Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups....

I would check their web site and find out if they require oil or not. I know not all filters require oil so you will definitely want to make sure before you oil it.

EDIT: A quick internet search has turned up that the BBK filter is the same style as the K&N...and in fact turned up a couple other threads asking the same question as yours. You will need to oil it after you wash it out.

*sigh* ok ok. I have an unidentified filter on my car... the guy I bought it from had a K&N oiling kit in the car, so I'm assuming I can oil it, but I have no idea. I really hate it, because I can't remove it through the fenderwell hole in the engine bay. I'm seriously debating getting a new filter because of it.

i have the BBK CAI and I searched for whether or not I needed to oil it also. I found out that yes you need to oil it and that the K&N recharge kit is alright to use. I've already done it to mine, and nothing is wrong with it.

thanks for the info. i actually sent an email to bbk the other day and they sent me a link showing how to clean it with the K&N recharge kit. just wondering about how long the process takes? seems like an all day project to me letting it dry and all.

I wasn't too worried about getting it dry real quickly. Its not an all day thing. Truth is- it only took like 2 hrs total. Air drying it a bitch. I don't think mine was totally dry before I put the oil on it since I had to go out somewhere.
Mine looked like it was still wet, but in reality it was just cleaner. lol

the instructions say let it dry on it's own but i don't see how that could hurt anything.

A leave blower type device will also help dry it quick as well as blowing out any remaining debris.

a leaf blower is a little excessive. now that i look back i should have used a hair dryer. Its got that cold air setting. Couldn't hurt.
