Hi im considering buying a 05-08 Mustang GT. Can anyone explain to me the differances between the years and which would be the best or cheapest to buy. The 05 will be cheaper to insure correct?

Some TSBs have been fixed since 05 and you should check to see if the previous owner had them installed. For instance, there was a gas venting issue with the 05 where the gas would not fill all the way. Also, a clunking in the front when the wheel was turned to full lock. Some weld points were changed so check the build date of your car; for example, I believe early 05s have no weld point to mount a CHE K-member brace w/torque limiters so check with your vendor before you do this mod. Additionally, I think:

1. Except for Fanblades, 18 inch wheels were not offered in 05
2. Early 05's have a window control button on the key fob
3. Navigation system is now available
4. Heated seats are now available
5. 3.55 rear gears are now an additional cost option
6. Radio and A/C control knobs are removable in 05-06
7. Some Turbo/Supercharger kits (e.g. Saleen Series VI) are different for the 07 because of a small plumbing change
8. An aux jack is now standard on the shaker
9. Some interior trim packages are no longer options or are standard
10. Tire inflation sensors (TPMS) are now standard
11. Some TSB's such as gas tank venting, Skipper 500, etc. have been fixed
12. The chassis has been reinforced since the GT and GT500 use the same chassis
13. There have been some color additions and deletions each model year

The '05 will definitely be cheaper than a comparably equipped '08 but, yes, the current year of the S197 does have a few more options such as 18" wheels and HID lights; however, the 3.55 gears are no longer the stock option (3.31's are stock and 3.55's are a pretty cheap option). Also, due to the change to the chassis, the '07+'08's are also slightly heavier.
As for insurance costs, I don't really expect there to be a difference

depends on the red. redfire is pretty good looking. torch red i think is ugly.

either way, nothing beats the slick looks of a black car

true but i think black is kinda plain if you know what i mean. White is the same but they both look real nice when clean. I was thinking of Blue since my old car was a dark blue subaru impreza and i loved the color or maybe the dark red which is redfire i think. The thing is i wanna do stuff to it like put some stripes on it n stuff like that but idk which color would be best for it.

that red is amazing and i think you even have the same hood that i want. (Cervini's Ram Air Hood (2005+ Mustang)) I was thinking of going with a black car and then getting the blue stripe or stripes. I see to many mustangs that are black with white or red. Im probably gonna have to see the car in person to decide on a color. What do you guys think about the grey color? I cant think of the name but its somethin with a T i believe. Its like a dark grey blackish color.

well, there's actually two names.i think 05 and 06 had tungsten grey and 07 08 have alloy metallic (which i love) now if you go with those colors, you can easily make your car look like eleanor from gone in 60 seconds. get the right hood, center the fog lights, black stripes and you have a killer looking mustang. i'm trying to sell my V6 to get an 08 alloy.

yea if you're going to do stripes, then black is the only way to go. but if done properly, some nice white stripes would be set off nicely....http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...Penthouse1.jpg

but if i had that color, i'd end up making it look like this http://www.mustangmotorsport.com.au/...or_conv_01.jpg

Just stand in a dealership lot and look around in person until you decide on the color. Get inside several ones to get a feel for options like Shaker 500 vs Shaker 1000 sound. Also, racing stripes always look sick on a Mustang but every single aftermarket hood for the 05+ is heavier than the stock hood. (That doesn't matter really unless you want your car to be as fast as possible at the track and have better weight distribution to the rear wheels)

yeah i want it to be as fast as possible but it will also be my daily driver so i want it to look nice. I dont think the hood weight will affect it that much. Or can i just go Carbon Fiber and paint it? Right now im leaning towards black and making it look like this http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2088/...7cb0bb.jpg?v=0

Just remember that the 05 was Sonic Blue which has a more purple tint than the Vista Blue beginning in 06.

Yep that's the same. It's called Vista Blue. I lightened that pic a tad so the scoop would show up better for someone who wanted to see the Roush scoop I put on.

I originally wanted black. But it's so HARD to keep up. But this blue seems to be just as bad, esp. for rock chipping. I made the dealer give me some touch up paint.

But overall I'm am happy with the color. I see a lot of red and black but not many of this color blue. I considered putting gray rally stripes, but can't decide. I have a friend who bought an '08 GT 500 - alloy gray with silver stripes and my looks faster....
