Ok, I have the chance to get a set of navigator 4 valve valve covers brand new, 0 miles on them, sitting on a crate motor waiting to be installed for the price of $20 plus my stock covers....oh, and they are local so no shipping. I would just need to take my stockers off and install his.
I was thinking of going redfire covers, but I think this deal is just too damn good to pass up. they are powder coated a crinkle black like a whipple.
I think I know the answer, just wondering what y'all think?
They would go in here:
Cool Side note...yes, those are both the same car...just noticed they are from different times when I had the JLT RAI and now the JLT CAI kit....it will soon have the RAI again once I convert it over...just need the 10" filter to do it and cut my current pipe.

Rob...you do know what all's involved in this right? It's not worth the work required IMO.

Yeah, you need to drop the K-member to get them out. I've dropped the k-member twice now, it's not that big of a deal.
Why is it a down grade?

I think the overall effect the black covers will have on the underhood is minor but in the right direction.
Are you doing the install yourself or having it done?
I love doing my own work so I would definitely get them (in red or chrome) but I don't think it is worth it if you have to pay for the install because that would be too pricey.

I will be installing them....Back Yard Customs for the win!!!!!
I've gotten to where I am going to do my own work unless I can find a trade off for some sort of web work for labor type thing. For example, a local shop offered to do my clutch and input shaft swap for me for a business card type website. So, that sounded good to me. I planned on doing it myself, but if I can get it down free, sign me up.

Also, the end result is a redfire and black underhood. With the black valve covers, I will be painting my RAI redfire, the coil covers will be redfire, and the strut tower brace that will get installed will be redfire. The blower will remain black even when I upgrade to a KB hopefully later this year...or early next. The timing cover will probably end up redfire as well just to add some contrast to the black....and I beleive I will be changing to black pullies.

If you like them and are into the black, I say go for it. You know you love dropping the k member. I looooove redfire, there's always a chance you might run across those later on and can swap them. Can't beat the price tho! I think they black will look good.

This is roughly the desired effect...only redfire instead of torch.

Spec, you still haven't addressed this yet...why is it a downgrade? They are the same covers only in black instead of silver...where I have no silver in my bay anyhow.

To me black makes it look more bare and bottom of the line~ one of my favorite things on the 03/04 is how the engines stock look SO much better than any other 94-04 stang... and they also look much better than the gt500... its all in black and just looks boring to me.

We all know you are going to end up doing it. It definitely will better than the silver. Plus they are basically being thrown at you for that price. Pull out your glove and catch it.
