Man football is really going to miss this guy when he leaves.
ESPN - Paterno backs college playoff system, calls excuses for absence 'bogus' - College Football

Quote:
Paterno also is unhappy with the rules of the coaches' poll, a key element in selecting which teams play in the BCS title game. Coaches are required to vote for the winner of the BCS title game in the final voting, a condition Paterno sees as working against the principle of a voting process.
Paterno has not voted in the coaches' poll since 2004, when he wanted to vote for undefeated Auburn but was forced to vote for Southern California after it won the BCS title game.
"They said, 'Well, you've got to vote or else you can't participate.' So I will not participate in the voting," Paterno said. "Not that I'm against what other people want to do, it's just that philosophically I think you ought to win it on the field. If I have to vote for somebody only because people have said these are the two teams that ought to be in the BCS championship game and I think they left somebody out that probably ought to be in it, that's when I'll feel a playoff ought to be appropriate. I've always been for a playoff."

I'd love to see the SEC and the ACC pull out of the BCS and just have their own playoff system implemented. Fuck the BCS.

So much better than those Big-10, errrr...eleven, teams. Ask OSU 'bout the SEC.

i dont like the big 10... do some research... all i know is that the ACC has 1 win in 10 BCS games... flordia state is the only one that has won... the SEC is slightly different at like 11-and-4... but my point is you couldnt have a tournament with just two conferences (especially the ACC)...

You live up there in Big-10 country. Anyway. All I really care about is the SEC. The ACC is pretty southern, so I give them a pass. Unless we get a couple of the big conferences to pull out and go on their own, we're never going to get away from the bullshit system we're stuck with, now.

yeah i live 15min away from notre dame and i hope the golden dome falls in... the SEC is known for being a great conference for beating each other up... i mean hell theyve won the last two championships... even though the same team has lost the two ... and besides that you all live in that area so i cant argue with personal preference...
