When it comes to cars, anyway
As of near 2 weeks ago.. I parked both my cars for the summer
Since then, aside from the jet out to Cali (thrust > torque!!) I've dealt with a severe lack of tq..... I've been driving ...
a 2008 Toyota Matrix - The newest car I've ever had in my name (both year wise and mileage wise had 6k miles on er when I picked it up)
For what it is its pretty sweet (a small 4 door wagon) with a 6 disc changer, sunroof, COMFORTABLE seats... like 15x more comfortable than those in the buick and maybe 5x moreso than those in the mustang either way... comfortable.. and it handles great... 215 wide tires and lower profile on a car that weighs about 800 lbs less with a much stiffer suspension - and brakes the same size as those on the buick
That's where the fun ends... its really slow- I'd say easy 16.5s - 17 second 1/4 mile...
On the way to Hermosa Beach tonight.. I was trying to climb a hill.. MPH was not increasing AT ALL, it was staying exactly the same, if I let off the gas a bit it'd slow down.. the GS would have been roasting the tires up the hill while accelerating at 40..
Blah... I don't think I could even live with an economy car like this as a daily driver.. I guess I'll know for sure after my 3 months here are up
Speaking of Toyota... Its a BLAST working there, I've not had a moment's peace yet, been going pretty much non-stop, working on some really neat projects related to toyotas scan tool
Oh and California is sweet too..
First thing I saw when I got to Hermosa Beach... Volleyball tournament..
Cali chicks in bikinis all over the place...
Well yeah there's my update
If anyone's in the LA area hit me up!

dude i am severely hating this shithole right now.
for the past 3 days we have had like severe wind gusts. everything is covered in brown dirt. i look out my office window and all i see is dirt. doesnt help the huge dirt field thats across the street is right upwind of us, so the wind is literally eroding the fresh soil away, and creating dirt berms and dunes in front of our buildings. there was a good thick layer of dust on my car, and especially at the sill from it hitting the window and sliding down. its like brown snow. fucking gross. and it smells and tastes like dirt everywhere i go. have to dress like the Sandpeople of Tattoine to go outside.
you know your state is a shitty place to live in when there is a city called Los Banos, IE "The Shitter" for you non-spanish speaking people.
Roads suck, driver suck, and overall the general populus sucks. my neighbor that now lives in Las Vegas is out visiting for this week, said at first she didnt notice how shitty CA, namely Modesto, was until now that shes been away for so long and gotten used to Vegas. thinks its funny a place surrounded on all 4 sides by dirt mountains, nesteled within a desert, is a cleaner and better place to live than Modesto. for a state who's road maintenance budget is 10x that of any other state has the worst roads imaginable.
anyone got job openings for Inside Sales anywhere?

lol this weather has been so retarded here.
First it's record breaking heat numbers on Monday
then it's windy all week
then it rains with thunder and lightning.
Only in fucking california.
That and how it randomly fucking hails during summer where temps are normally high 80's to mid 90's.

Boo f*king hoo, cry me a river - no matter where you live its going to have downfalls. Go spend a week driving around NYC then tell me traffic around here sucks (traffic might but the road systems are a lot easier to navigate)
Complain about a bit of wind and sand/dirt? try living in the mountains or north of the mason dixon line and live through a winter
If you hate it so much just move, don't bitch up my thread

im not into hatchbacks - if they made a non-hatchback version of the matrix, i would consider it for a daily driver. but then again, i guess thats what the corolla is for. the newer ones look pretty sharp as well.

The matrix is a hatchback/wagon version of the corolla

Thanks. I'm starting out as a tech but there is room to move up to service writing, which won't take long in my opinion because he was saying his writer is horrible. I can even see him wanting to retire in a few years so maybe i can even buy the business from him. It's a 4 bay private shop, has a great customer base so there will always be work, 8-5 with 1 hr lunch break(other shops 7-7), only work 1 saturday a month (instead of every sat 7-5), and full benefits. Its a laid back atmosphere too so i think ill fit in just fine. We'll figure out dinner then, Maybe wings!? haha. So you find a hot girl for the summer yet?
