Hey guys/gals as you know by my recent threads im having driveline issuse due to my power which i didnt think was too impressive with about 330 to the flywheel but now my rear end blew up on the highway. my performance shop is helping me out a lot by installing them for a good price. ill be going with the ford racing 3.73 gears.ive never experienced the differance in any type of gear install, my question is what differance will i feel going from stock 3.27's to 3.73's

You will accelerate faster.
Your top speed will be lower.
You will run at a slightly higher rpm at the same speed than you did previously.
(If you have a manual then your shift points will change a bit due to the difference in the relationship of speed & rpm)

If you are running low 14's and are installing the gears and a traction lock I'd expect about 13.5-13.0 because of the power levels we are talking about. If you were stock I think they would help a bit less.

Damn, 8 secs. I guess it is no longer a daily driver, lol.
I have tackled most of the work myself except for the supercharger which I actually had done out at Brenspeed. And the only reason I sent it out was because I was originally planning on cams, delete plates, etc, etc, but then changed my mind and got power hungry, lol.
I do need a place to do racing stripes, window tint, and repair a small dent that can't be banged out, oh and patch a tire b/c no place in NY will do that for you. Asshole NY-ers will only take 5 min to try to plug the tire or sell you a new one. Know any places?

I plugged my tire myself but there is no way I am taking my car down the 1/4 mile without the tire be patched. I know it is no issue to get it patched in MD but this is just another reason to hate Ney Yorkers.
I'm in catonsville but I may try JPC Racing to get my tint or racing stripes if they do it since you seem to be pleased with them.
Anyway, have you already bought your new gears and gotten your rear end fixed up?

its still at the shop my transmission blew up and i had the car back a month and a half and i hear a boom and the whole car shook and it wouldnt go anywhere so i thought it was the trans again. the bad thing is when my diff locked up it twisted my input shaft on my trans , i dont have money for another trans and the diff justin at jpc is already working with me only charging a minimal amount to take the trans out and check it out then they are putting in 3.73's with t-lock i should have it back thursday or fri i cant wait to see how much faster its going to feel from 3.27's. plus im getting a short shifter installed as it has a shift stop where the stock shifter allows you to over shift and i shift pretty hard. so justin said it will work with the twisted shaft he knows im real low on money from just doing the trans. but i might have some engagement issues. As for JPC racing justin and his crew down there they are the best shop ive ever worked with and i did imports and domestics and im a technician. I tried to get a job there but they are full of techs at this point. They are a busy shop having a race team and all but they do quality work, understand that people have a budget and some of the nicest people ive worked with. The only thing is sometimes they take a minute to get back to you but thats just cause they are so busy, but if your patient with that you will be very happy with that shop.

A manual usually loses about 15% power from the crank to the wheels and an automatice loses about 21%

well when i added the supercharger no other mods i was at 250hp 260 tq to the rear wheels with a slipping stock clutch since then i completely rebuilt the engine ross racing pistons 9:1 compresson total seal gapless rings scat h-beam rods clevitte 77 bearings tri-metal main bearings 3 angle valve job heads reconditioned, pypes high flow cat x pipe dual exhuast, centerforce dual friction clutch now added 3.73 wth t-lock short shifter, next upgrade will be a g-force transmission and then up the boost to either 13 or 15 from my current 5psi, depending on how the tuner says my engine will do might add 50 or 100 shot nitrous for the track when using race fuel

Yeah, 3.73 is the ideal gear for being S/Ced. Should have said that before, lol.

3.27 to 3.73 is not a huge difference, its about 2 tenths to 2.5 tenths of a second shaved off your times depending on how your gearing is when you cross the line. I think the revs will be 8.8 percent faster~
