quick newbie question

hey guys, i may be coming up on a 3.8 mustang shortly, and there's two options i'm looking at:

1. complete motor and tranny swap

2. turbo and rebuild the 3.8

i'm not big into mustangs, but i learned my lesson on this supra i'm rebuilding at the moment. planned on doing a $4k engine rebuild, and it's turned into $6k+ turbo cost on top of that. my question is, can anyone give me rough comparison estimates on either of these? would be looking for 450whp, without spray on each of them.

don't have one yet, but have access to both 302's and 351's at good price, but both are still stock and would require a rebuild

The best place to go for engine internals is Modular Mustang Racing. They know their shit real well and you can check out their site to get a rough estimate on parts prices.
You can either get brand new parts or they also offer coating/treating/porting.
If you only need 450rwhp, then I personally would get an engine from a junk yard car, rip it down, send out the parts for treatment, and then rebuild it. That's just me though.
So why are you doing this anyway if you are not into Mustangs?

one of my friends has this car and i just got finished rebuilding a bike that he wants. i like to build stuff, but everyone around here and their brother has a mustang, so i usually go a different route. like a 270whp cobalt ss @ 19 psi, that still gets 35+mpg, 87 turbo supra @ somewhere around 600whp before spray etc...

but this one just sorta fell into the picture unexpected and i need something to work on during the summer
