if a tuner was working for a 2006 gt and than tried to connect to a 2005 gt, it says "wrong vehicle". how can this be rectified? |

The 2006 vehicle needs to be restored back to the stock tune and then a new tune for your 2005 needs to be loaded onto the tuner with the proper computer code. You can't just swap tuners back and forth between cars. Once you install a tune on a car, that car is married to that tuner until you return it back to stock. Then you have to have a tune made for your specific computer code or "strategy" in order to load it onto your car.

Yeah, PureVenom is 100% correct. It serves as a safety for the vehicle so the XCal always has the right tunes (and stock tune) for the specific vehicle stored. It also is profitable for SCT so people don't go getting all cheapass on them by passing around a tuner

Echo.......
All of the above posts are correct...However, they did forget to mention that if you dont have access to the vehicle that the tuner originally went with, you can send the tuner back to SCT or an SCT dealer and they will reset the unit back to it's "original/stock" form so that you may use it...for a nominal fee of course...it's something like $150 or so if memory serves correctly to have the unit restored...it may even be more than that, but I cannot remember exactly...
