Ok, which one to buy for my DD beater?
1994 Buick Skylark Custom - 75k original miles, senior owned, bad water pump, current EPA rating of 18 city 26 highway...original EPA rating of 20 city 29 highway...about 70 miles away in new orleans so it would need to be trailered - $275 + gas for a buddy to go get it with me.
1995 Chevy Corsica - 110k miles, unknown driver, blown head gasket, current EPA rating of 18 city 27 highway...original rating 21 city 29 highway...in baton rouge so no trailer needed and if it did it would be intown = less gas cost - $495 OBO
*note, all EPA ratings pulled from Fuel Economy
I'm leaning skylark due to the senior owned and 35k less miles. Plus, it's a buick, so I can be like Tiger. But the in town feature of the corsica is tempting if it is in good shape...and if I can talk her down to about $300-350 tonight or tomorrow when I go look at it, I might just get that one and be done.
A water pump is ~$40 without my autozone hookup...haven't looked up a head gasket yet for the corsica...but it can't be overly too much. Either one I'll fix myself, so no labor costs there.
Also note, I have not seen a pic of either car yet, so condition is still unknown. The corsica has a phone number, the buick is a contact through craigslist email only...
Since I just sold my QA1 k-member to some weirdo V6 owner today, I should have $150 waiting for me when I get home....so that will just about pay for either of them.

I just did a reverse phone number search for where the corsica was in town...and let's just say it's not located in a not so reputable location. That kind of has me leaning skylark as well.

Ok, it's obvious you are missing the point of this thread and what this car would be for. I already have the gas eater in the ported 03 cobra. I'm looking for a gas sipper so that I don't have to daily drive my cobra any more. Something that isn't going to cost me $400 a month for gas like the cobra does right now.
So, the GT suggestion is about as far off the playing field as it gets.

you tell 'em boy! the GT is fine as a DD for me, w/ gas soooooo expensive, it's not the most economical, but people don't buy mustangs b/c they're economical. they're hot and just sooooo much fun to drive and 10,000 other reasons, mainly b/c they're MUSTANGS.
i say skylark out of the 2. whatever happened w/ the civic?

a GT if driven conservatively will get good mileage. i think i pulled 300 miles once (from my house to the start of the grapevine) and still had 1/8 of a tank left (wouldve gone more but didnt know if i could make it over or to the top with 1/8 tank left and didnt want to chance it)
Id go for the Skylark. The name is cooler than Corsica. Corsica sounds like a douchebag car name.

my mazda3 just pulled over 500 miles out of a tank of gas that was almost all highway (approx 34mpg).

lol here in Baton Rouge, no such thing as highway driving, especially the times Rob drives. Takes him an hour to get home, which should be a 20 m | | |
