I'm going to try and keep this short and simple.
Found an '02 Mineral Grey GT 5spd. Talked to a salesman. Without even seeing the inside or knowing the mileage he gave me a quote of $13xxx with their "Grand Opening Special". I ask for mileage so he has to go find the paperwork for the car comes back and tells me it's 42,3xx. I tell him how much I think the car is closer to $11000 and after discussing a bit he makes an offer of $10700 although I think he can go lower. What do you folks think? The car is in pretty good condition. Some minor touch ups but nothing compromising.
My other question, or favor is does anyone have a carfax subscription that they don't mind running for me? Through this thread or PM. If not it's all good, I'll be going back in tomorrow most likely and get the carfax from them, however I'd like to review it before I go back.
Thanks, you guys are Awesome

I've been comparing prices between Kelly, NADA, Cars.com classifieds and Autotrader classifieds and the price isn't too bad. I'm using Kelly Blue Book because it gives me better leverage, the others say aboult $12000. I like the '03 Mineral Grey much better then the '02 and I've only found one or two Sonic Blues. To be honest I'm not a fan of the Red-Orange-Yellow color, that is for me. I think they are beautiful colors just not for me. What I'd really like is a Mach1 , but oh well.
I was on my back under the car as far as can be in the parking lot looking at it. To me it looks solid, minor surface rust under the rear bumper where one can expect rust, no rust in the trunk or it seems anywhere else on the car. Molding around the driver headlight seems worn away, and of course that dreaded sun haze on the lights. I'd say the only problem is a small section where it seems like the clear coat is missing. Of course if I do decide to go with it I'll be bringing it to my mechanic who can much better evaluate it then myself.

10.7k does sound like a good price for the miles. That's about what they go for here in the south.

Ex nay on the car.
I left on Friday after some more discussion with the salesman. It came down to the car having to be checked by their mechanic since it was bought at an auction and it just hit the dealership so their mechanics didn't look at it yet. After their mechanic would look at it we'd have our mechanic look at it, talk a little bit more about price and we'd be set.
Got the carfax for it, only had two owners and the car is a local car, been on the island all it's life. Two years ago it was in an accident with a fence so over the weekend I was doing some investigating. I drove all the way to Suffolk Police headquarters in Yaphank to get them look up the case number. I had the case number but they can only search by name. So now I have to go through the DMV which will be much more of a hassle then predicted. I had an idea the other day, where I come up with all my ideas and remembered the body shop was listed on the carfax. Today I call the body shop and they remembered! Mostly cosmetic damage, replaced power mirror, headlight, fixed scratches on bumper, no engine damage.
So the dealer says the car won't go in until Tuesday the latest and today I call them back to check on it. Here is the conversation:
Me: Hey this is Joe, I'm looking for Roosevelt?
Roosevelt: Hey how's it going?
Me: Not too bad. I was in their last week about the 2002 Mustang GT, I wanted to see how it's doing.
R: Ohh, you're not going to believe this, the car was in an accident.
M: Whua?
R: Yeah man, I'm really sorry. It was on it's way to the Ford dealership over on Old Country Rd. and it was in an accident. It was totaled.
M: Oh okay. Well thanks anyway.
R: If another '02 GT comes my way I'll give you a call.
M: OK, you have my number right? Take care.
R: Yes I do. You too.
*click*
So even though there is a Ford dealership literally right down the block from them it went to another one, however the original dealership closed down and this one is new and a branch of one that's on Old Country Rd. so they probably had a deal with that dealership or just used to them. Or it was just sold to someone who paid higher. I don't know if I totally believe him but at this point it doesn't matter. Either way it won't be in my driveway.
The search continues!

Tell me about it. I'm very specific about the next mustang I want right now and this fell right in, didn't even think I'd be able to get it. Funny thing is there are plenty of mustangs for sale, but none that meet my criteria, a lot of verts up here btw if anyone is looking lol.
What I should really do is get another job My search will be much easier then.

There is a beautiful Mineral gray mach 1 down here in VA. Not sure of the miles but it's pretty...kinda made me mad that I bought my 03gt first. I love my car but this Mach 1 is super clean...on the outside anyway. I'll PM you the link if you'd like. It's an 02 I believe.
