Turning off Overdrive, does it go into “Performance Mode”?

I have a 2000 V6 Auto, When I drive on the Freeway or highway and I come to a steep hill or mountain pass I turn the overdrive off and that helps it get up the hills. What I was wondering if it does anything when driving in town when speeds are not all that high, say around 40/45. In my old car (Subaru) by turning it off would put the computer in “Performance mode” and the car would rev out further before shifting to second or third. Does the Mustang do the same with the OD off?

well its not a performance mode but it keeps the transmission from stacking shifts.

i've never noticed a difference...........i've run the same times with it on or off. b/c all it does is lock out the o/d gear, at least on the 4r70w's......dunno about the aode's or the 5r55s trannies

overdrive is 4th gear, they just call it overdrive, by turning it off you just dont have a 4th gear. The real reason they call it over drive is the ratio is less than 1:1.

it does a little, ive noticed in kyles car it holds out a little longer, almost like tow mode in my hemi.

It definitely puts mine in performance mode. Every time I lock out overdrive, my tires break lose.

I never noticed a difference...then again I also removed the button and didn't worry about it after that.
