I have a problem with my 2006 Mustang Gt. When I turn the car on the ABS and Brake light are on. They do not go out. After checking the parking brake switch, peddle switch and low level switch found them all to be OK. I then found a bad ground on Abs Module and repaired it. The light are still on. So I continue working my way up. Through the smart junction box which appears OK. I was sure it was the harness from the SJB to the Cluster or the cluster it self. So I took the cluster out of my 08 mustang a swap them. When I put the 08 cluster in the 06 The brake light came on and then when out after self check as normal. The Abs light did not come on at all. When I put the 06 cluster in the 08 the Brake light and the ABS light stayed on as it did when it was in the 06. This is leading me to believe the cluster is bad. But when I think of it further the 06 has Abs and the 08 does not. Now follow me here. If the 06 got an ABs code and that code is saved in the cluster not the pcm, and the code needs to be cleared by a scanner at the dealer then it might just stay on when switched to the 08. And maybe the 08 cluster is not programed for ABS(even though the light is installed) since the car does not have ABS so that is why it does not come on when installed in the 06 at all. So my questions are:
Is the cluster programed for the options the car has "ABS"?
Are the codes stored in the cluster?
Do the codes need to be cleared after the repair is made or will they clear?
Or do you think I just need a cluster?
