Hey all, I am wanting to supercharge my 2002 v6. Current mods are as follows:
Ebay CAI, Short throw shifter(steeda), 3.73 gears and auburn post, custom tune by VMP (chip), and a magnaflow V6 dual exhaust kit (keeps the Y pipe). Engine and internals are stock and everything seems to be running fine.
1.I would love to find a good used S/C unit if I can to save money since new ones get...well...expensive. With this in mind, do the super coop supercharger units bolt right up to the 99-04 3.8 or do they bolt up to the 3.8 singleport 94-98? Can they work with the 99-04 or do u need to downgrade to the singel port heads?
Are there any factory superchargers that will bolt right up to the 99-04 3.8 engines?
2. this car is still and will be my daily driver, so I am not looking for anythign too crazy boost-wise. how high would you reccomend I go max with the boost and still keep it a good DD? I know it's all in the tune as well, and I know of a good place in my area!
3. With a supercharger, should I change our the heads and intakes and get a new cam? Or will the stock H/C/I work fine? I am also guessing I should get rid of my Y pipe dual exhaust(got it for free from a vendor I know) and go with an X or H pipe?
4. What all do I need if I buy the parts used seperatly? I am guessing I'll need the unit, injectors, bigger fuel pump..but hat else? I would like a roots style blower as well.
5. any other pieces of advice or information I am missing would be great!

1.) you would have to downgrade, not worth it.
2.) depends, some people run 11-15psi on DD's (built dd's past 11psi)
3.) don't have to no if its a 2.5" Y system you don't HAVE to either
4.) 310 pump / injectors / tune a good dyno tune
5.) 2800$ will get you an eaton m112 kit. (roots style)

There are not direct bolt up supercharger kits available from a company for the 99-04 v6. You can do the supercoupe swap but you need nearly the entire engine and the end results are sad.
Some are making the adaptor kit to fit a 03/04 cobra M112 Eaton supercharger on the v6, and they work and you can buy the kit (not sure on price). They make good power but are harder on the car than a regular vortech would be since root blower put more pressure on the internals at lower rpm.
A vortech system will probably be the most expensive by a little bit. It will give you a warranty on the blower (if you buy new).
All in all its how you wish to go~ both have their good and bads. With the roots blower the hood clearence will be a major issue as they are quite high once installed on the engine~
You can always go turbo for more money and make the most power.
If you cant afford to blow your car up then you dont need to take the risk of running a power adder~ IMO at least.

you should expect 275-300rwhp/tq when all is said and done with around 10-11psi~ (supercharger, turbo would be much lower boost for those numbers).

The only way the 3.8L Tbird supercharger (M90) set up to work for you, is if you go back to the single port heads or have a custom lower intake made up
Basically its easier and cheaper to buy the entire SC motor, but if you want to install it on your mustang block here is what you need.
-Roots blower
-SC blower top
-SC lower intake
-SC rear blower intake with SC TB
-Rear intake (from IC to lower intake)
-SC thermostat housing
-SC jackshaft pulley bracket
-SC PS pump bracket
-SC crank pulley
-SC water pump and pulley
-PS pump pulley (you can us your mustang pump)
-SC tensioner pulleys (all 3)
-if using the SC block/crank then use the 94-95 neutral balanced dampener with exeter gear, some dampeners off the F150 will work as well.
-if using the mustang block/crank then use you stock mustang dampener
-if using the SC block/crank then use the SC flywheel/flexplate
-if using the mustang block/crank then use the mustang flywheel/flexplate
-Mustang or SC starter will be fine, they are the same
-Mustang headers
-SC heads are better but Mustang heads would probably be fine (SC heads are supposedly a little stronger)
-SC injectors or eqivilent plus matching MAF
-89-93 SC came with 30# injectors and 55mm MAF
-94-95 came with 36# injectors and 70mm MAF
-all cooling hoses
-SC thorttle cable
-SC throttle cable bracket
-MUSTANG EEC
-MUSTANG wiring harness
-wire to lengthen wiring harness connectors
-extra cooling hoses for custom work
-MUSTANG timing chain cover or 94-95 SC timing chain cover
-MUSTANG crank sensor
-MUSTANG or SC alt will work, MUSATNG better sicne it has the extra connect on it, but will work without it for the SC alt, need to change pulleys if using the Mustang Alt. I believe the Mustang alt is more powerful as well, not exactly sure.
-SC AC compressor
-custom AC lines
-custom air inlet needed
-SC intercooler should work, not sure how well the SC intercooler tubes will clear but they should
or use a custom IC setup like me
-Mustang motor mounts
-SC valve covers
-Mustang DIS module, don't need the SC one.
-SC oil cooler (not needed but good to have)
-Mustng rad will work, but if using the SC IC then might be easier to us ethe SC rad its a little smaller though but works for the SC guys fine.
-Major tuning
-SC coil pack bracket (mustang coil pack should work but I have the SC coil pack as well)
