Price on a Mach 1

Sorry if this doesn't seem to belong here, but questions don't seem to get any attention anywhere else.

I was walking around the swap meet at the Iola Car Show here in Wisconsin
and found an 04 Mach 1 with 9503 miles, orange with the black striping, all stock except for super 40s, and Ford Racing Mach 1 Wheels (not sure why?)

The guy is asking 14,500 obo. I asked him why he was selling her and said that it was to expensive of a toy. He was pretty young.

Does this seem too low for that model mustang? I looked it over pretty well and didn't notice any engine/body work or problems.

There are a couple of other Machs in the area going for 17000 up to 21000 with more miles.

that does seem a little low, but it might be what he owes on it and he just wants payoff, where else was this posted? i didnt see it up as a new post.

thats a pretty good price, but not super low. Mach 1's dont hold their value much better than GTs. Comp orange is a rarer color as well. I would make SURE its never been in any wrecks etc etc, just because car fax doent show it doesnt mean it hasnt been worked on. Also check with ford for work they have done etc.

Its a ton better than the price a dealer here wanted for theirs. Blue book is a good starting point to see the value of the car. It should book for around 16-17k if I remember right from when I looked it up before. probably 14-16k for private seller.

None the less, if there are no major defects that you can see or find out through a search, then that price seems good to me and not a "scary low" price.

that seems like a good price IMO. they are depreciating a bit slower than GT's but then again their MSRP was what, like $4-5k higher?

Yah I orginally posted it in the V6 section since i spend most of my time there, and questions seem more attention there.

Thanks for the input, i am definitely going to look into the history of the car. I know carfax isn't perfect, so i will do extra homework to make sure it is clean.

I would think competition orange with a 5spd would seem to have higher value, but who knows.

Yah, i talked to a guy who knows the guy who is selling it. He said to stay away from that one. It was in a wreck and they rebuilt it. They tried to get it as close to its original form, but still has problems. I think i will let this one slide

that's unfortunate! I'd love to get my hands on a mach1 or cobra in the near future (03/04 model) Actually found a few nice ones in my area but I questioned the price on a few since they were low miles at almost too reasonable sounding prices, but never researched enough into them since I don't have the cash yet(well i do, but I need it for college :P )
