What a idiot! At lunch when I read it, I nearlly fell out of the chair laughing!. Here it is.
Who’s Your Favorite Rice Boy?
By Natasha Carroll
The term Rice Boy stereotypically described someone who starts off with a slow, not meant to be fast car, usually a four cylinder such as a Honda and attempts to “fix it up.” They use rims on low-profile tires, decals, hydraulics, chrome windshield wipers, lowering springs, body kits, oversized wings, florescent lights, performance seat belt covers, more than one exhaust with the tip being twice the size of the original exhaust –or-more-oversized spoilers, brightly covered body, and a 130+ decibel system. These are just some characteristics of a Rice Boy or Girls car.
When traveling in packers, ricers sound like a huge tractor, or swarm of bees. Their goal is to attract as much attention as possible. Some will drive by repeatedly just to prove their existence.
Looks aren’t everything. Most people will deck out the outside of their car, but have nothing to show when it comes to speed or performance under the hood. Wings aren’t even affective until the car hits about 150MPH depending on placement, surface, amount of friction and drag coefficient of the car. Most cars that are rigged aren’t even capable of hitting 150MPH. Wasting about $400 on up. Getting rims, especially chrome, which is heavier than most metals, will actually slow the car down, and possibly screw with the speedometer because it was set to calculate a certain weight, which rims throw off balance. Rims will also lessen traction for acceleration and handling on curves. Also, if a car or truck is lowered incorrectly, it throws the shocks out of balance making them unable to handle high spring rates, let alone a bump in the road.
In other words, if seriously considering doing things to ones car, be sure that the people doing it actually know what they’re doing. Better yet, don’t do anything at all unless it’s for restoration.

NOw why would she be considered an idiot? Most of what she said was true. But I think the spoiler effectiveness starts around 70-80 MPH, and on indy cars, the spoiler is effective at around 30MPH (Pot shot guess, but those spolers are constantly working).
The wheel facts are wrong.. it's not the rotational force that screws with the speedo, it's the differences in the tire/wheel combo radius which screws with your wheel rotation per final gear revolution.
But all in all.... yeah, I would agree with her that a lot of Riceers dont know that what they're really doing is just slowing their cars down with all their "Mods". But I dont think it sounds like a tractor or a swarm of bees... I think those fart cannons sound like damn weedwhackers!!!

All I know about that car is what it says on the front bumper. It's from the 80s I think.
