Hard Drive Receivers (Sony & Pioneer)

Just was looking arround on Crutchfield for possible Xmas presents for myself lol. They have two new headunits. One is by Sony and one is by Pioneer. Both sound like they do the same thing, except the Pioneer is more affordable and looks better.

They basically have 10gb hard drives in them that you can non-mp3 cds to. The thing is, they use some wierd proprietary encoding method that encodes files to 132 kbps.

Hmm... I found some of the Sony ones for $600 and that was what got me interested... but now I see that those are refurbs. Nevermind this idea... it's a rip off... $1000+ for a 10 gb hard drive... I might as well just get a new headunit that takes AUX inputs and build myself a custom cradle for a 40gb iPod.

Not recent, but I have the old ones before I hardwired it and got my new headunit.
