actually one of the main MM drivers said a well setup IRS is much better on the tracks they tested vs live axle. Overall the best setup is IRS when done right for autox.

Maybe it's better overall, but it doesn't mean that:
MM has plenty of solid axle cars that would wipe the floor with most IRS cars on a road track.

Yeah but if they built a IRS car it would leave solid axle cars in the dust

On a bumpy track? Maybe. Otherwise, the extra weight may hurt them more than the slightly improved handling.

~100-125 pounds difference when you use the good stuff (like vettes) vs economical stuff (like ford).
But it's a good thing all tracks are as smooth as ice...

When you look at the one in the cobras, you're looking at around 150-175 pounds difference. It is a massive frame...

according to the motor trend dodge challenger srt8 vs. ford shelby
gt500 specs. comparison, dodge weighed 4137 lbs. ford weighed
3887 lbs. dodge 1/4 mile times were 13.1 sec. @ 108.3 mph.
ford 1/4 times were 12.6 sec. @ 114.2 mph. So according to Motor
Trend ford is lighter & faster, and has a $700 lower gas guzzler tax.
Test dated 6/29/08

I had the pleasure of driving a new challenger tonight. I really like the overall appearance of the car and I think its the best vehicle (since the viper) to be built by Dodge.I love the retro styling with the modern amenities and Im sure it will handle great with the IRS and the wide 20" wheels. The car is smooth under throttle and sounds very nice when you get over zealous with the go pedal. We will be straping it down to our dyno once it has a few miles on it and when the cai, exhaust, tuning software comes in Ill post up some pics and follow up .

without a doubt, but in their testing with the best setup for live axle vs IRS they had consistent faster times on the IRS... in the end its better at most things (not everything) but its more expensive to get there (so they say)

I think you're understimating the donations you will need to give for the Saleen tax...First born = the shelby tax....Saleen tax = first born, spouse, mother, grand mother, and first 3 grand children.
