Is it normal for the rev limiter in an 2003 V6 to cut off at around 4000 RPMs? THanks in advance for the INFO...

The Rev limiter in a stock 2003 should be in the low 6000's shouldnt it?

Hell, my 98 has a limit of about 5300... and 99+'s have higher redlines than pre99's do.

I though it was 5800-5900
the over 6K boys had it removed... but they still pull strong over 6k!

4k is wacked... :-?

are you talkin in neutral or in gear?

there is a neutral and in gear rev limit.

In neutral, you can only rev to say ~4000 rpms.

In gear its like 5200 rpms.

I was in park when it cut out at 4000 RPMs. Will that be the same as being in Neutral? If so, I guess my car is G to G.

Cuse I've been to 5200 in nuetral.

They should all do that when there is no load on the engine....being in park, or nuetral

I was reving up my 98 one morning in nuetral and I pulled 5200RPMs in a 5speed.

Next time I get a chance I'll try 5300. Myabe it's there.

i can rev my car which is a 2001 all the way to red line in neutral but i can not hold the revs there i think the max is what was previously stated at 4k. If you try to hold it at 5k it will just bounce back between 4 and 4.5k. The red line for the 2001+ is 5750 i think but i have had my tach say it is at 6k but we all know how accurate those things are.
