time for tune-up

my car is about to hit the 60k mark and i need to do a tune-up. I plan to drain and change all fluids (except brake fluid as i just changed brake pads and fluid about 3 months ago), new pcv valve, clean throttle body and mass-air, new spark plugs and wires, and new air filter. also i just recently noticed that my differential has no drain and fill holes in it. :oops: i'm planning on drilling and threading a couple of holes in it (after the cover is off of course). any suggestions on how high/low the holes should be? also i plan on using synthetic oils. either redline oil or royalpurple. which do ya'll suggest? anything i missed that ya'll can think of. thanks.

There is a filler hole, on the top half of the differential case, facing the front of the car. You don't need a drain hole, you can drain it by loosening the cover.

thanks, i didn't see it because i was looking at it from the rear :oops: i know i don't need a drain hole but i figured if i was going to make a fill hole might as well make a drain hole too. besides with a drain hole you don't have to buy a new gasket every time you want to change your fluid.

There might be a gasket from the factory but everyone uses RTV when they go back together!!!

Ford uses a gasket.
When replacing your rear diff fluid this is what I did:

drain it by loosening all the bolts let it drain slowly till its slower, then take the bolts of and finish up.

Take the cover off, clean it up. through the gasket away.
I actually went to ford, and bought a new gasket for it.
when i put it back together I used RVT hightemp gasket and i put that gasket on it. Then put it back together. There is a fill hole at the top.
I used royal purple and they come in squeeze bottles. Find a hose that fits in the hole and on the bottle then just squeeze it all in. Its a little messy but it works.
