1967 Mustang Fastback w/ Vinyl Top

My buddy is hauling a 1967 Mustang fastback out of the woods. The car has a vinyl top, the vinyl top trim and is a genuine fastback. It also has a 390 with a 4 speed.

Has anyone ever heard of a vinyl topped Mustang fastback? It is queer looking to say the least. The car has been out back there for more than 20 years.
