Hi Guys
Got the dashboard all open on my '66 Mustang Convert. and can see most of the switches inside my dashboard.
I'm stripping my car 4 the sandblaster.
Can't get those headlight & ignition switches out of the dashboard
I read somewhere (please don't ask where I'm ol' and can't remember where the heck I live most times . . . lol )
Seriously Guys. Here's what I read: Put my key into the ignition and turn it clock wise to: Access. then place a PAPER CLIP into that little hole directly under the key. Push in which releases the key to go further LEFT.
At that time I can pull the ignition switch out ~ WRONG
It just doesn't come ITS
Now what guys
Need all your wisdom on this one guys.
Thank You all 4 your help in the past and hopefully in the present.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

I had the same issues getting the ignition switch out of my DD (99 grand prix) I finally fiddles with it and took my time not forcing it and got it out, but the key has to be in there. The little bump you push in with the pin has to be done as well~ its not fun or easy try to find pics of the ignition switch out and on a table to see what you need to do and how its setup.

This is all I could find
To remove the ignition you will need to disconnect the battery ground cable then insert the ignition key into the switch and turn to the ACC position. Insert a piece of wire into the hole of the lock cylinder. Push the wire inward to depress the lock pin then turn the key counterclockwise and withdraw the lock cylinder. Press the rear of the switch and rotate it counterclockwise, remove the bezel, switch and spacer. Disconnect the wiring and plug from the rear of the switch. Installation is the reverse of removal

Hi Herbstang
I did all that again and STILL that ignition switch is not coming out
Again: My key is in the ignition switch straight up and down then I turn to the access and push the paper clip in the bottom of the key and turn to the LEFT (COUNTER CLOCK WISE )
And pull that switch out ~ NO IT STILL IS NOT COMING OUT IT MOVES LIKE TO WANTS TOO.
I guess I'll keep on trying. MAYBE A LITTLE PENETRATION OIL MIGHT DO SOMETHING GOOD.
Thanks Again for ALL your replies guys.
GOD BLESS

Sounds like you are doing it correctly, might just need a little extra elbow grease.
