I would still much rather have a mazdaspeed3. Looks better and is still related to ford.

Realtune broke their record today of 12.04. They pulled off a 11.87 @ 125 mph with a tune, injectors, bolt ons, DR, and some weight reduction.
Mazdaspeed3 doesnt have anywhere near the threshold the CSRT4 does in terms of durability with all stock components. 385 Hp and 456 ft lbs on stock everything except injectors. Thats just crazy.

Dude, not not only those but the SRT4's. Those things are sick. I'm not against any American cars. Their all cool, but I just prefer mustang over anything else.
Just imagine if you put those hemispherical heads on a mustang........

Aren't almost all heads these days hemispherical? Hemi was something new back in the 60's

I'd like to see proof that the MS3 couldn't handle that kind of power stock.....

One reason I believe the mazda will be able to handle that power. Is due to the fact the 2.3 has been around for a couple decades now. In 2001 mazda redesigned it, but the general technology for that motor is still there. Where as the motor being used in the srt4 and csrt4 has only been around a few years. I dont doubt dodge can build powerful motors it's been happening since the mid 60's. I just dont see where you can justify in saying the MS3 wouldn't be able to handle that kind of power. It is one of the best in it's class in just about everything.

the turbo in the MS3 is tiny. In addition, the CSRT4 has forged components and a getrag 6 speed good for ( so far we have seen over 400 HP on stock everything ) with just tune, injectors, and bolt ons.
So far MS3's typically run 330 ish hp with bolt ons, tune, injectors ( dont quote me on this one ). The biggest problem is to make serious power the MS3 needs a turbo swap.
The stock turbo in the CSRT4 is the same turbo as the neon stage 3 turbo. MS3 has been out for a couple more years than the CSRT4 ( which came out late last year ), and hasnt broken into 11's yet.
The latest and greatest record for the CSRT4 11.87 @ 125 mph. Thats with all STOCK everything. Only mods are injectors, tune, boltons, and DR's. Theres no way the MS3 can come close to the CSRT4 in terms of minor mods. Hell the stage 1 kit from mopar is just a reflash for the CSRT4, and is rumored to be 315-320 whp and 340-350 wtq with a stock system. U slap on exhaust, and an intake, youre going to be looking at 330-340 whp and 360-370 wtq. No MS3 can do that.
Hands down though, MS3 > CSRT4 in handling. CSRT4 > MS3 in drag/power.
Once the stage 1 kit becomes available for the CSRT4, it will knock 98% of MS3's on the road out of the competition. Honestly, the biggest competitor for the CSRT4 is going to be the Cobalt SS/TC. They already have that car running low 13's on a tune, and exhaust. Thats not too bad for an almost stock car.

Well you basically answered the one thing holding back the MS3 from getting that power. A bigger turbo. Now if mazda were to put a bigger turbo on it then it would easily run the same kind of power the csrt4 is. Also from what I hear on the next gen MS3 they are bumping it up. Either way they are both impressive cars. I just prefer the MS3.

the motors in the ms3 also come from the roots of the gtx engine japan was putting in the mx3's and ive seen some swapped into an escort and its stupid fast. this is a bored and stroked version of that engine so i think that motor that they have now is more than capable of handling some seat of the pants power. needless to say with either car, its potent 4 bangers either way.

Thats cool. Im not a big fan of the MS3 for 2 reasons:
1) all of the people Ive come across in forums and on the street are retards in this car. They think the MS3 is the baddest car on the road ( which it def is NOT ).
2) It reminds me of the 1980 woody chrysler station wagon my mom used to have back in the day
Also, Im sure that the tranny isnt as good as the getrag. I dunno if their tranny is up to 400+ whp. NTM, theres already a bigger turbo swap that DCR is completing for the CSRT4. That thing is the size of a dinner plate! Its retarded big lolz.

you act like thats a good thing.......
I highly doubt the MS3 2.3L can handle anywhere close to the 2.4L they use in both SRT4's. The SRT4 2.4L is just as strong as, you guessed it, the 4g63. Ford's 2.3L would never come close to being able to take the kind of abuse neither the 2.4L SRT4 motor (the designation escapes me) or the 4g63. Id put Ford's 2.3L around the same power handling as the Subie motors you see today in the STi/WRX. My buddies WRX is now on borrowed time, with a 20g turbo! a 20g is like kiddie shit for the 4g63, thats the top of the line MHI equivalent turbo, which isnt saying much. 4g63 or SRT4 motor isnt on borrowed time till you throw on a 50trim @ 25psi and run around 50lbs/min (or 500whp thereabouts). Hell, the 4g63 has seen 620whp on stock internals, only thing changed was ARP studs and multi-layer-steel head gasket (stock studs will allow for head lift and composite/felt gasket leaks at 20psi+), and i think the 2.4L SRT4 has seen a bit more than that.
Wheres the AMS Mazdaspeed3? *crickets*

im pretty sure why the ms3 hasnt put out crazy numbers is because the rods actually suck. many people have bent them on stock boost.
and i agree with you guys about the caliber. that thing is ugly. the ms3 looks waaay better IMHO

I just can't respect the Caliber. Put down as much power as you want. You'd still have to admit you are behind the wheel of a Caliber and your balls are where . . .?

Rumor has it that the next MS3 is going to have the new 2.5 with a turbo. I expect if that happens it will be putting out a good bit more hp. Considering the 2.3-2.5 is almost a 20hp gain stock.

Thats the best part though. Its one of the best sleepers. Who honestly thinks a car that looks like that is fast? Not many, but then when they get smoked by the lunchbox their look is PRICELESS.
Balls are all in the motor . After stage 1, expect to see plenty of 340-350 whp and 370-380 wtq CSRT's running around. For a 3100 lb car thats a pretty phenominal power/weight ratio from a DP, muffler delete, CAI, and a PCM change.

the MS3 is a better allaround car though. Where the MS3 really shines is on the road course and the autox course. ive driven both, and trust me the csrt4 is fast, but the ms3 has a better feel, more of a well rounded car.

Sleeper? Right . . . My point was that even if by some random chance a csrt4 does beat me in a race, I still have a respectable automobile. People complement me on my car all the time while both driving and while it is parked. There is not nearly the same resonse when people see a csrt4 parked somewhere. Give it 1000 whp for all I care. The Caliber is still just an ugly little thing Dodge unfortunately released.
