Flywheel questions

Can anyone tell me if I can use a flywheel off of a GT in my 97 v6?

I know I am externally balanced but it's messing with my head confusing me. If Im externally balanced that means there are weights in the balancer and on the flywheel right? So what would my imbalance be and will the 94-95 or the 96-99 flywheel's bolt pattern matchup?

I thought the bolt pattern was different but ive been wrong before. Yes the weights are in the balancer and the flywheel. Your balancer could be bad. I couldnt see the flywheel becoming unbalanced, that would mean either cheaply made or it was cracked to begin with and it just broke. Could your clutch be the culpurate?

I am currently swapping in a 5speed. No problems yet haha thats what Im trying to avoid by asking this question though.

I found some info out though..

164 tooth flywheels are used in automatics, T5 transmissions have a 157 tooth flywheel and a 10.5" or 10" clutch disc, my brand new clutch is 11". Doesn't match up right? Well apparently some Ford trucks use a 164 tooth FW and 11" clutch. So does that mean I would need to actually find one off a truck with the same bolt pattern instead?

I really need to know the imbalance and teeth count for a 97 v6.

Some ones gotta make a flywheel for that. But the truck idea doesnt sound bad. No idea on the imbalance thou, sorry. Im gonna ask my buddy when he gets here if he knows anything about it i think he done it before.

i've been drinking so right now im not any help. But if you are at PCT still, go to the ATC building and find Bill Schaeffer. He is the tranny professor and is one of the smartest guys around. He should be able to help you. If not go find Chris Holly right down the hall. Another very smart man. There are plenty of junk yards around Wilpo too so I'm sure you can find what you need. Rishels has a lot of old trucks, hes down across from Spook Hollow, down 220 towards state college. Either way you still have Harry's you pull it and if they don't have it, no one will

Nah I want to buy new billet. I dont want to pull a flywheel out of something, way too much work to not even know if its usable or even will fit.

And unfortunately no Im not at PCT but my buddy is maybe I can have him track them down and ask for me. Thanks man I appreciate it.

Well no luck, noone seems to have my answer.

I just want to know if I can pick up one off ebay for a deal.

Does anyone out there know what will fit? Anyone? I can just go buy a v6 flywheel but they are like 300+ for an aluminum one and every dollar saved helps me.
