So i figured i might as well start a build thread for my mustang to show everyone my progress and give some people some ideas and maybe get some info/words of advice along the way.
So here is my stang the day i got it:
I drove it around for about a month and then i joined the "Mustangs Northwest" club and went to one of their anual picnics:
Well shortly before the picnic, my rear-main seal decided it was time to start going... so i drove on it like that and just kept checking the oil level every few days as it wasn't very bad(and i didnt have another car to drive at the time). That only lasted about another month and a half or so and it decided the time was up and the waterpump also decided it was time to go (just after the all ford drags at bremerton raceway).
So i decided it was time to bring it into the shop for some MUCH needed love. I also had this pretty little setup laying around that i was itching(more like a mild burn) to install on something:
Garrett .70 trim with Tial 40mm BOV and Tial 38mm wastegate
A few days of the car sitting in my driveway as i cleaned and cleared out the shop getting it ready for the car to be in there for a good while, the car made its way in to be torn down and taken care of.
The first thing was to take all the moldings, vents, scoop, wing ect. off and strip all the crappy non factory paint:
MMMM Aircraft stripper!!!
Then i got my toyota 4x4 that needed a bunch of work and the stang went on hold for a couple weeks.I was just recently able to get back to work on it about a week ago and got the motor out, cleaned the motor up a little so i can tear it down and im getting ready to seam weld and sand down the engine bay so i can prime it while the motor and everything is out:
So the next day i started to tear the motor down with a good friend of mine and through the next few days we slowly took the motor apart, bagged and labled every single thing that came off:
My good friend cody helpin me out (He might only be 17 but this kid is on a roll!)
Getting there: (not sure how much slack it should have but that timming chain can move about in inch or so back and forth!!!!)
from the top side the intake runners actually had clean metal showing in them after 110k miles!the bottom on the other hand was pretty nasty!
Thats where im at so far, this week ill be sanding and seam welding the entire chassis. Then its off to my mechine shop to build the cage and weld up the torque boxes. Then it will come home and ill be installing my spare 302 as a moch-setup so i can build my turbo setup and figure out how i want it all to run, while im rebuilding the motor out of the car. When i have it all just how i want it, the engine bay and interior will be getting its final paint job.
I still have to order up the new hatch/hood/fenders in fiberglass before i do the final paint on the outside of the car but untill then the car will be all DP90 satin black and for shits-n-giggles im going to throw a pair of gloss black racing stripes over it, for some looks and also to give me an idea how i want to paint them when its all done.
So, tell me what you guys think and if you have any advice or any ideas about any parts/products i should and shouldn't use please let me know as this is my first v8 i have built and am not 100% sure on some things here and there.
Thanks
~J

Dads 440 challenger
(my fault its a 68, his brother has the 67)here's the turbo dart
brothers dart with a stroker small block in it
The whole family
the grey dart actually has dodge viper brakes and seats in it.
both brothers running against each other.. They actually were first and second place in nationals against eachother!!!!!!!!!!
So it was only a matter of time untill i stoped building tuner cars and start toying around with some american muscle with these guys living across the street from me!

i know for a fact they are 67/68. I got the stang since my dads a ford master-tech and back when i was 9 my EXACT mustang was my dream car that i just had to have and now i found it. That and i cant be just like them, i have to have something just diff' enough that we can still battle lol

Well, work is going to slow down for awhile, long story short i have been planning on moving out of my moms place where my shop is at and she went crazy and kicked me and my lady friend out and wont even give me a chance to find a place so im screwed. She told me everything i own has to go with me, which is like 1 whole kitchen worth the stuff, a whole bathroom worth the stuff, a whole livingroom full of stuff, a spare room full of stuff, and a bedroom full of stuff...
and on top of that a full shop and 99% of everything in it is mine....
this is lame...but i will be moving the stang to my dads shop, only thing is i dont know when ill be able to work on it seeing as its 2hrs away and the car will no longer be stored in a building it will be outside under a car cover untill i get the chance to work on it.
If anyone wants to keep in touch or lend a hand with anything feel free to give me a call on my cell~206 234 2685
