Change out 200 six for a 390 v8

Hi fellas: I have plans to have the original 6 cyl. In my 67 coupe changed up to a 390 v8. I am collecting parts for this project. I have had a couple of mustangs restored over the years but always left the original power train in. Not sure how much i need to change. I am guessing front and rear springs, motor mounts, radiator, upgrande 8" rear end to a 9". I want all parts on hand when i take it to a mechanic. What am i missing?

i would definitly upograde to a 5 lug to hide that it used to be a v6 car, and while i was at it, i would go disck brake front to stop the extra weight...the 8" rear will hold out fine for a while, i have a friend with a 65 and a build 302 that has the stock 8" and its still tickin but if you have the budget, go 9", im sure you are going to need a transmission upgrade, and i think thats pretty much everything, those cars are really easy to convert, technically you could just leave all the factory front suspension and 4 lug but itll keep the value of the car down.

i agree on the tranny upgrade. it has a c-4. i have just acquired a c-6. thanks for the tip on the front disc. i will do that. thanks, max

the c4 would probably work fine..im not sure if they were the same as the v8 internals bust most c4s are great transmissions

I would go with the C6 it will hold up to the extra tourqe better than the C4. Now when you put that motor in there you have to put big block shock towers in there cause the stock ones for the 6 will break after a couple of times you romp on that behemoth.

You also are going to want to have some chassis stiffening/subframes installed to keep the body from twisting under throttle. Make sure you take it to an experienced and reputable shop for the work.
