its kinda up to you... used gears could whine more because theyve already got a wear pattern in them, but its not necessarily true in all cases. The 4.10s in my car came from midwest, the only whine i get is transmission whine when its in 4th, other then that theyre fine.

i believe midwest only sells 4.10s that were factory installed... ie on rangers. so there shouldnt be any whining due to the gears

100 for used gears is expensive. at gefracing.com i got mine for 150 or 160 shipped, new. before spending so much i'd try to find cheaper used ones or cheap new ones.

Whether or not gears whine depend a lot more on who sets them up and whether they do it right than whether or not they are new. I would certainly NOT get a used Tlock though, and I would not have a set of 4.10s or any gears installed without a tlock.

The place that the gears are from is www.4wheelparts.com. They have the gears for 149.99 and the master install kit which comes with new baring and shims and everything else for $78.99. These prices are alot cheaper than any place i have seen. and they have 4.10s and 4.56 and there still priced at $149.99. You can't beat it. It also come with a lifetime wanrranty on the gears. EVEN if you install them wrong. THey will replace them.

not neccessarily. properly installed richmond gears are prone to whinning even with .002 backlash, almsto damned perfect. the rest of the specs were fine as well, but more than a couple have whined that i have heard. however whining is never a good thing,t hat's for sure.

Yes he is definitely a good guy, I have been trying to get him to move from 3.8 over to here, he told me he isn't getting any sales from them now. He said a while back he was going to talk to Brent... Zim, you might be the one to talk him over to our site since you know him personally.

oh well, maybe he will join us sometime. 3.8 still has more members than we do, but I think we are more serious than they are, lol.
