What do I have to do to install Pioneer 6x9's into the rear decklid?

You wont be able to tell the difference in sound.

(if you wish to know you have to cut the opening bigger. You can have someplace like tweeter do it if you want to pay them 120 bucks)

or, i have heard that there is somewhere u can get some sort of things to hang the 6x9s under the hole for 6x8s. I think that would be too much trouble anyways too, and it would be hangin a whole lot more than 6x8s in ur trunk.

I already have 6x9's, please tell me what is involved, someone has to know, and there is nothing tweeter can do that I can't, it'll just take me longer.

Am I cutting through some kind of board, or metal? Because i can do board, im already gonna be fabbing a setup for my subs/amps

i bought 6x9s too once cuz i didnt know. and solved my problem quickly.

took my ass back to where i got them and exchanged them!

You have to cut metal and a whole lot of it.

Take everything out of your back like your going to swap them out. Take your stocks out then try to put the 6x9's in.... then you will understand what I mean

The door has a piece of plastic that the speaker mounts too. To do the deck, you would be filling metal off and drilling new holes. And it's not easy to work back there either.

Now, you can go buy the 6x9 and tweeter kicker panel set-up seen here.

If instead of putting them in the stock slots, could I make a new rear decklid out of fiberboard and mount them directly into it? My car is parked 3 miles away, so don't tell me to go look at it, because I can't. Does anyone have pics of the metal frame after the decklid is taken off?

If you can do that and get it to work then go for it. But you got to get it to slide back in the same area and you have to be able to secure the speaker so it doesnt move.

But with all that money that you spend on doing that you could sell your 6x9's and get 6x8's.

I dunno man its just a awful lot of trouble for almost no improvement in sound.

You either have to cut the metal or come up with something yourself.

See those pictures of Shahrum's 6x8s...those are Pioneer 3ways. Get them.

Ok, here's how I see it. If I make a new decklid out of 3/4 inch fiberboard and cut the 6x9 holes out, The way the speaker is shaped, it should fit in the 6x8 holes becuase ive raised the speaker 3/4" anyone get me, or is it too late and i should go to sleep?

the 6x9 speaker will stick up taller than 3/4 inches.....

Its been over a year since I made that mistake to lol

I went to install them and could barely get them in... if I recall it was like 1-1 1/2 inches atleast

I put 6x9's in my old car where there were 4x10's before...it's possible. Pretty easy to do if you know what you're doing. I just cut holes in the back dash for the 6x9's to fit through correctly and cut corresponding holes in the back dash, leaving spaces to put screws through metal in back dash. I plan on doing this very soon in my stang and put 6x9's in the front doors as well. I'll put up a how to with pictures whenever I get around to this. Have to finish my gf's car first...gonna paint it this weekend if I can get it running right.
