So today when I got off work I tried to start my car the battery light came on with the check engine light, my wife came by and we tried to jump the car and nothing happen. It is a brand new battery (2 months old) and a brand new alternator (month and half old). What could it be? Does this have to do with my squealing pulley? Any help would be appreciated.

Did it even try and start?
Or was it just nothing at all?

Wouldn't even turn over, not even when we tried to jump it ( and we had the cables hooked up for 10 minutes). When I turn the key my stereo and my dash comes on and the battery and check engine light stays on.

do you mean the key, ignition switch or the starter? Plus if it was the key or the ignition switch wouldn't the battery and check engine light not come on?

the starter relay or the starter
if it was the key your car would act normal until you try to start it. then it would start

Is there a way to check if my starter an relay are good? And this doesn't explain the battery and check engine light though.

you can swap relay out with one and other you wanna make sure you put them back in the correct place and make sure they are the same relay first.

has your starter given u issues in the past? i.e., rough or sluggish starting or repeated clicks then it starts up. try tapping on the starter near the solenoid and trying it out. the neutral safety switch should be looked at too.

I left my car at work last night and when I got there I tried to start it and nothing but I did notice something else, my battery gauge was lower than the day before, so new theory. What about a short in my wires? And how do I figure out which wire is causing the short? Any ideas would be great.

Well I charged my battery today at a auto parts store, When I installed the battery and turn the key the same thing happens, doesn't turn over and the battery light and check engine light stayed on. Is it my starter and if my starter is bad would that still cause those lights on? Thanks.

Those lights dont go off until your car actually starts. Unbolt the starter and have it tested. Easiest way to tell. Its kinda hard to troubleshoot over the internet.

if the battery is charged and the starter is not clicking that could be it, my battery died in mine... just died no warning. It wouldnt jump or anything I had to replace it fully.

Its sound like your starter. When they go out they tend to click.
