I can say I am finally disappointed in my school

Well with all the stuff going on with my school (Baylor Univ):
-The murder of the basketball player last summer
-The professors trying to boot the president of the school last semester
-Us being $250million in debt and trying to build more
-Two members of a frat being hospitalized for hazing
-and lastly, the editorial board of our school paper getting reprimanded for having an opinion of same sex marriages

Our editorial board on our school paper got in trouble because they published a view agreeing with same-sex marriages. Us being a christian university, our administration reprimanded their opinions and now the editorials are not allowed for a while.
So tonight, the student congress revokes a bill that would reverse the administration's policy. They basically revoked the right to free speech and the freedom of the press at our school.

I cannot believe that just because of the christian univ would go so far as to ban opposing views like that. I honestly cannot feel proud of my future alma mater anymore.

In Christian school systems, there is the word of the student, then the teacher, then the administration, then GOD. There is no government involvement. I thought you would have figured that out by now?

Your university is ran by the church, not the state. But then again, you knew that when you signed up for it huh?

There are a lot of other colleges in the US. You may want to think about moving to one of them if you are unsatisified with your present University.

i know its run by the church. i knew that when i came here. although i came because it has one of the better science programs in texas. anyway, i can deal with all their christian praying before tests, and forced chapel attendence. i knew that when i signed on.

but to take away a natural human right is just wrong. the church needs to realize that some people have other opinions and theyre views are not the only "right" ones. there is a 'gray' area.

heck, the Episcopal church right now is about to split because of a gay bishop up north. some agree with him being a bishop, the others dont. if some of the church can agree with his lifestyle, then shouldnt the whole christian belief system leave that lifestyle alone?

anyway, i just dont belive that the free speech and freedom of the press should be removed. the admin. could have justly put in the paper their views and why they disagree with the editorial boards' that would have been more professional IMO

The church schooling system isnt very professional.
