It is true. Their torque off the line will make up any gear issue. once down the track the GT will pull you like the devil. I have seen many V6 with bolt-ons go down in flames against GT's thinking the same way you do!!!

Any proof of this? Most of the people that say they beat a GT with bolt ons are just looking for attention.
GT's are not invincible, but you will need full bolt on's and engine work, things like H/C/I if you want to go all motor to beat one. Period.

Well if you race a GT with a V6 with intake, exhaust, pullies and little things like that of course you're going to get you're ass handed to you. Even with full bolt on's, gears, and a flasher you will still be slower then GT's, but not by much.

Is there any bad effect in v6 engine after pullies, gears and chip mods installed? I want to know everything first before doing this to my car.
thanks.

Not at all!!! the only thing you will notice is when you have gears installed the Thrill-O-Meter goes way up and you cant seem to keep your foot from stomping on the gas pedal and your gas mileage goes down HAHHAHAHAHAHA

I've read your post !!! Giving you 10 seconds was a gift. But I'll be very careful of how I express my opinions of you because I want to put as much vituperation in them as possible

99+ v6's with full bolt ons and rear end gears CAN do high 14s in the quarter. Stock 99-04 GTs do 14.2-14.0's
It takes more than bolt ons and gears.

A lot of auto's with a couple bolt on's, a flasher, and 4.10's run high 14's. And I've seen 5 spseeds with full bolt on's, gears, and a flasher run mid 14's. With FULL bolt on's(no that does not mean intake, exhaust, and UDP's), gears and a flasher driver for driver and tranny for tranny you should run about .2-.3 slower then a stock GT.

You are putting too much faith behind the boltons and inflated gains that companies advertise with them...

If all it took was buying a V6 Mustang and dropping 1000 dollars in bolt ons on it to make it run with a GT do you honestly believe people would pay the price for the GT?
Do you honestly believe Ford is that stupid?

I never it would make it as fast as a GT, you have to get a power adder or do engine work for that. And it would cost 2k+.

Our 1995 V6 5 speed with:
UDP,
2.25" duals w/H pipe,
UCA/LCA,
STB,
3.73 T-Lok,
Shift Lite,
MAC CAI & huge filter...
Ran a 15.4 sec. 1/4 mile with a good driver and ~2200 RPM launch
shifting around 4100 RPM. That was on the heavy Cobra R's (17" with 275 rear tires).
We bought it, did the HG and added BV heads (1.84/1.6) RR's, hogged lower and upper,
Big BBK TB (56mm) Poly Honed upper and even w/o a tune it feels like an older
5.0 GT so we really think a hi-14 is likely. I now shift right @ the rev limiter (~5100)
and around 30-ish PSI in the Cobra R's seems to bite pretty well. I have the 95 cam
which is bigger than a 99^ SPI cam, very similar flow (actually more than stock SPI)
but we'll have to see what it actually does. IMO neatofrito is probably right,
an SPI car like my single port's boltons could get a mid 14 with the right driver.
We also have AC delete and PSP bypass if we want to run the short belt.
But the R's like power steering, or actually the driver does
We deleted the AC and did the PS bypass when we modded the engine. If it
does not get a hi-14 I'll get a tune and bust into the 14's for sure. I can feel
the lack of advance below 2500 RPM but that might help the launch a bit.
Dragstrip tires and wheels, I've been told, can knock off .25 ET as compared
to big heavy Cobra R's and similar rims. How 'bout it SpecV?

3.73's are good for a few tenths of your 1/4 mile time. Obviously they don't give you any more power, they just keep you in your power band better. Technically they will reduce you top speed but you'll never be going fast enough to notice.

Your RPM's will come up faster and when you shift you'll start the next gear higher in the rev range, closer to max horsepower.

where could I look for a set of 3.73 gears and t-lock for cheap(er). gefracing is too expensive.
Also, what kind or brand of tuner would you (as in ME experts) recommend. Is a flash tuner or a chip better?
