Streetracing gets waaaaay too much bad publicity.
Cell phones cause more accidents. Changing CDs in your car cause more accidents. Being old causes more accidents.
That being said, I do not streetrace anymore. But to those that do: keep it safe.

define street-racing. If it is when a thousand ricers show up and race for money then it is lame. However if you just crusin around and gun it up to 80 or 90 and beat someone (on an empty road) just for fun then i guess you can brag about it all you like. I am neither for or against street racing. However if you build a street car then your most likely going to get in the high rpm range somewhere down the street.

I dont "street Race" like fast and Furious style.
But who here hasnt tried someone from a stop light.
If anyone here tells me you havent, your lying. And if your not. Buy a honda civic grocery getter Because you dont need a fast car.

i say take it to the track if at all possible. but theres always gonna be the need to "smoke the guy" next to you at a light. thatll never go away.
now ive gone ot the "real streetraces", you know, the ones with 300+ cars that go to some industrial park late at night, set up a 1/4 track on a nice 6 lane wide road, and it was pretty fun. it was setup pretty safe, theres a big loop, you come in, 2 lanes become the 6 lane road, you run, then drive around the big ass loop till you get to the strip again. pretty good setup for being a streetrace, its almost like this place was meant to be raced at. but there are idiots who go there, some people parked on the side of the strip, and while people are staging, they dart out from the side and come down to leave or race or whatever, that was the only part that could suck, if someone was racing and they jump out. itll go on for about an hour, then a cop will show up and everyone will dart off to another meeting area, wait an hour, then go to the park again. btw this place i speak of is Mountain House Pkwy, right off 580 in tracy.
however, doing racing in the city is pretty retarded, but i still do it. i have a limit to what ill do though, the eclipse can hit 90 in 3rd. i WILL not shift into 4th on a race in the city. i think 90 is the max i should do in a race, its basically the 1/4 for me(15.3@92mph) i think its stupid to cross that speed on city streets. even 90 is pushing it. i know the dangers of those speeds, and what effect even a little mistake could have, i know the risks. i am willing to take them to see the look on the losers face, when their 20-30,000 car gets hurt by a peuney eclipse.
i think the whole "streetracing scene" is blown way out of porportion by the media. movies that make the scene look more "pleasing" than it really is. theres no models that dust off your car while its parked, theres no 1 guy thats the middle of the whole thing. theres some people who think their car looks super Tyte with a body kit thats not painted, rims that are, and a spoiler that keeps it all on the ground, and that adding a Cold Air intake will make them a "corvette Killer" or a V8 eater. those are the people who give the scene a bad name, the kids with their "tricked out" honduhs that do it all for the money, when its all about the rush. not respect, not bragging rights(but thats always good) not the attitude, its about the rush, the rush of being thrown back in your seat(something a honda driver will never feel).

Im up for stoplight to stoplight stuff... i think F&F style where 30 million ppl gather in their riced out retard strollers is lame though. As long as you're not endangering any innocent people... go for it

Street racing.. well.. It's fun. It gives you that rush that nothing else can really give you. I don't start it, they normally find me. I don't go up to people and start reving my engine at them. Like the rest of you guys, it finds us. We don't start the trouble, be we sure enough finish it with a nice win.
The nearest track by me is about 40 minutes away, it's off in the desert. I wouldn't mind going there to see my times and all..
Like it was said, as long as you're not endangering any innocent people then sure. But be ready for concequences too. Cops, your parents finding out (Mine did, but they can't talk they told me their racing stories, dad and his 67 SS Chevelle and my mom in her 72 Charger, even my uncle in his 67 Corvette), and if you do get caught the insurance will be raised a hell of a lot.

I love the street races. Its such a rush. I just went today (Tues 5/5/04). I raced a CRX with a GSR motor that had headers, intake, exhaust. At the races their was a 10 sec. Evo. That shit was FAST as hell. It was so beautiful. The motor was just so............put it this way, just by looking at the motor I nutted

And thats as far as I take it as well, from stop light to stop light or on the interstate, but I dont do mach 1 either, just up to 90-100 then I back off. But it doesnt happen all that often, and if there is alot of traffic im not going to even think about racing. Jacksonville is bad enough.
