315HP isn't much anymore considering nissan maxima have 290 and OLD M5 have 400, a car 8 years old.

Even though this is with a 3V- 4.6L instead of a 4 Valve i'm going to have to agree with you . They have been improving the modulars for a while why not just make the 5.4 L the standard GT power plant ???? I'm sure the old Cobra R motor with improvements would fit nicely!!!!!

disapointing. For this reason people might go camaro or even challenger. you get more bang for the buck. well atleast as far as the camaro is concerned. The challenger costs more but gives you a good amount of horses too.

i was expecting a 5.0 motor or bigger. closer to 400 hrs.

Look, idk what you guys are fusing about. 315hp is NOT bad by any stretch of the imagination. 315hp is all kinds of whats up. 315hp, 3:73 gear, 5spd auto or stick, lighter in weight in comparison to its competitors.

On top of all this....the money you save with the Mustang compared to the Slow-maro and the overweight challenger....you then have $ to sink into CAI, exhuast, tune, and few other odds and ends, which would, in turn, throw it over 350hp!

So, 315 to start with. I call good show.

When you have a competitor with a 304 Hp V6 then yes, 315hp V8 is sad. Although the E.T. b/w both cars are dramatically different it's still weak. Especially when the competitor has a 422 HP rated V8.
The sticker for the LS will start at $22,995, while the SS commands $30,995. Both prices include the $750 destination charge.
Ford can't match that $ per hp.

back in 03 300hp wasnt enough (the mach1 had over 300hp....) and my 03 cobra had 425.... here we are 7 years later and we have yet to go much above 300 for the non cobra mustang... I didnt buy a mach 1 back then due to its low hp... and thats also why I dont want a new GT... not enough power.

the GT needs at least 375-400hp~

What different is a mag going to teach me about factual #'s? #'s are selling points and bragging rights along with tons of other things. Ford Failed in that category.

you guys should keep in mind that the new Camaro SS is only .2 faster to 60 than the new GT. sure I think it needs more power and the 2011 model year will offer it.

This is Ford's way of keeping sales up and the fanbase strong, at least in corporate's eyes.
To US, 315 is sad, I do agree, but to Fo Mo Co, these are good numbers to keep the GT selling strong, (when compared to the competition) because mustang sales are down compared to the last few years. Ford would insist that a larger engine with higher hp numbers would increase the price tag, even though we all know that is bullshit.

All Ford really cares about is numbers. Housewives and fans of the mustang name will buy a v6 or a GT not really caring about the specs. They figure they can make "special" models like the bullitt and the GT 500 for the "gearheads" and sell all of them.

Hopefully they'll change their attitude and outlook by 2011 and make a badass platform with a larger displacement engine and more impressive performance numbers.

If ford would Look at the after market items out there (CAI Headers Exhaust Tune ect.) and get the best performance out of there platforms then we would all know we can't inprove the performance and realize the they have don't it wright and we would never go looking for better!!!

Ford has market deals and shares worked out with different companies such as Steeda, Saleen, and Roushe. Aftermarket support is a very strong factor in Ford's business plan and makes a huge effect in sales. Had it not been for the strong aftermarket world the Mustang may have just faded off into never land like plenty of previoius 'muscle cars'.

Also, Ford would never take or have the time to completely design an engine where an after market product will not be able to better it. There is always new technology and of course the buyer is always going to want an individual appeal and edge over the next mustang.
