I have the chance to buy an 3.8 SC block. Just the block, for $50. Now, I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not. My question is this. Is the SC block stronger than the stock one? Could it be overbored farther than say, the 3.8 block or the block for the 4.2 that I just bought? (the 3.8 and 4.2 blocks should be the same, I know)
What about the main caps? Are those bigger than the regular 3.8 caps? Would those caps fit in a 2001+ oil pan like you need to do a 4.2 stroker?
recap questions
1. Is it worth $50?
2. Is the block thicker than a standard block so it can be bored out larger?
3. Will the main caps fit in the 2001+ oil pan a stroker would use?
4. Depending on the answers above, is it worth $50?
Thanks guys, you all rule.

the block is the same as the 95 or 96+ 3.8L's
as for the main's, i honestly cant remember, but i doubt youd have any benefit going with the SC mains
i wouldnt spend the 50 bucks unless you need a spare block

I heard a weird rumor about how the SC block wouldn't work with a 4.2. I'll see what I can find.
