What's the deal with those resistors that are being sold on e-bay, that claim to add 15-20 horsepower, for $3.00. I know it has to be complete BS, so I was just wondering what the idea was behind it, and is there anything that I can get from Radioshack to accomplish the same goal. |

Just say NO.
It is not worth the .50 for the resistor. If it worked as advertised everyone would be doing that and not getting tuned or buying a chip.

Yea that's what I thought, but what is the idea behind it. I was reading on some other site that it tricks the engine into thinking there is more air being pushed in, and as a result more fuel is burned or something? I don't know, LoL. |

Well one thing I have learned is that it's not a good thing to trick or fool the EEC.
It is a very complex system that can be manipulated but not tricked.

Yea, looks like I'm just going to have to put some money into it if I want to make it faster, go figure. I just purchased some cold air intake for my stock 1995 v6 auto,145 hp :/ should my next upgrade be exhaust or gears or what ? |

Both are a good start. Exhaust is cheaper. Gears give the biggest bang.

Gears then exhaust. Gears are teh win 
4.10's and a T-lok are the ONLY way to go in a automatic |

Ok thats not as bad as I thought. I'm just really desperate, my car is not fast at all, but it's only got 60k miles and the body is in great shape, I put a $1000 stereo in it, and would just like to get the hp up around 200, because 145, just blows, I mean I can't even spin the TIRE, if I floor it, I just get a screech LoL, the t-lok has to do with the wheel rotation correct? |

It will cause both rear tires to have equal force. The std open differential in the V6 only drives one.

Don't worry about asking questions, we were all new to this at one time.
An under drive pulley will help & for you it's an easy install and cheaper than the 99 & newer. Exhaust will help also, a CAI (cold air intake) too. I have one off E-Bay for $35 & it is fine.
Those are pretty much the basics.

Ok thats what I was thinking, I just bought an intake off E-bay today acutally it was $35, LoL. I'm just looking to get up around 200 hp, my friend has a 2002 Ford Taurus with the DOHC v6 and thats rated at 200 hp and he has ben wanting to race me, but I told him that I don't have a chance, LoL. I guess its not all about the hp though, my car has alot more torque than his, and with gears, t-lok, and CAI, with some nice exhaust, even if it isnt 200 HP, I think I could take him. The gears will increase my acceleration, and then my top end speed will decrease correct? Does that mean my top speed is lower, or I will not gain speed as quickly once I reach a ceratin speed? |

If you have a 95 you may want to watch out for your headgaskets. Seeing how you have low miles. They have a known problem with them that leads them to blow |

well by resistor mod its really tricking the cars computer into thinking the air that it is sucking into the motor is really cold, and when colder air comes into the motor it tells the motor to use more gas with the colder air.
you have this little wire that is in your intake tube after the air filter that when teh air goes past it, it sees how hot or cold the air is and sends it to the cars computer, its ever changing this will allow the car to know what kind of air/fuel mix to use.
the resistor mod tricks the car into thinking the air is ALWASY cold, instead of having a varying sensor you stick a resistor in its place that makes it alwasy think its cold.
this only makes you waste gas..... its worthless for anything else so do not do it.
