Automatic Computer

I have a 91 LX that came with a auto. Now i need to upgrade. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to get a A9L computer off e-bay, or keep this one and get a chip. I have heard you can't replace the computer in a automatic car, with one that came from a stick car.

You cna havea chip turn off all of the auto functions, if switching to a manual tranny...is this what you were trying to do?
