Alright so i saw something some where about being able to go from a mod 4.6 to a mod 5.0. i have a few questions.
what All is needed?
where can i find the parts?
How do you make it DOHC instead of the SOHC i have now?
And about how much power would i be pushing to the wheels?
thank you.

one at a time:d
You need a 5.0 stroker kit from eagle, skat,or mahle...some other brands as well including crank, rods, and pistons, about $1500-$2000 in parts
i can get the parts for you or you can contact benjy@tps on this forum, either way it will be coming from the same shop (total performance solutions)
to swap from sohc to dohc, you need this....heads,intake,timing cover, alternator, misc 4v brackets/tensioners, a tune,24or 36lb injectors, calibrated mass air, throttle body.and you will need to do some custom wiring(i can give detailed instructions on this)
as far as power, it depends on alot of things, you can make 350 at the tires with that combo if it is built nicely with full bolt ons but dont expect the extra .6L of displacement to double the power, its a small gain for the money until you put a power adder.

so if power is what im after its cheaper and quicker to go straight to the power adder?
on jmschip.com they have a P1SC package with 60lb injectors, 2core intercooler, svt fuel rail, piping and SCT tuner and some other things for 4900 i believe but with the upgrade to the D1SC bigger intercooler and some other options its about 6200
i figure with the upgraded package i should be pushing alittle more than 450rwhp.

your motor wont hold a d1 and i wouldntwant to make more than 400rwhp on those stock rods, it depends what your goals are, you dont need 5.0 displacement to make sick power, you just need forged internals...you can get used cobra crank and just buy the pistons and rods and build a 1200 hp capable motor then all you need is boost, boost, and more boost. but the 4v heads will respond to the boost much better than the 2v heads...they are more crucial then the .6L of displacement.
i have a set of 01 cobra 4v heads with comp behive valve springs build to hold 20psi of boost that i need to sell, i can make a killer deal on them.they have 0 miles on the rebuild

im just messin with you because i know you wont get butthurt, the heads interchange, thats why you can put terminator rotating assembly in a gt. i think my next mod motor will be a aluminum cobra block, forged internals with the new trickflow 2v heads, im dying to try them. but im undecide if im going pushrod or mod motor in my upcoming project...

the cool thing with a forged modular 5.0 is that when time comes to do big power, your bottom end is already beefed up, whereas if you go SC first you are on borrowed time (depending on how far you take it, i guarantee its not long before you up the boost to the point in which you really are on borrowed time), and will be rebuilding the motor soon anyways.
ultimately doing it all at once would be the best bet.

sweet... so im starting with the bottom end then and just have to wait for the serious power... where can i find a forged bottom or atleast one that would handle 500hp with no problems. and a trans that will do the same lol

tremec 3650 is the best way to go, and sometimes you can find used terminator rotating assemblys for cheap, or i can piece you one together for about $1500-1800.itll be terminator crank, eagle h beam rods, and mahle forged pistons, with that combo ive turned 7200 rpms on a 125 shot in an aluminum block more than once and the car is still perfect.

700 for the built heads, and lower intake? probably 200 for an intake from svtp or mach 1 registry.

huh? what are you doing? they are not ported and they are built for boost, im not sure what advantage a stock head would have over them.

the only thing aftermarket is the valve springs, seals, and they have a valve job., pretty much just rebuilt with tighter springs for big cams and boost but are no different from a set of stock heads in performance, just longevity, they should be allowed in a stock class.

you are looking at about 2400 to get pistons, rods, crank.and heads from me, a good block is about 500 and the covers/tensioners and chains vary depending what you get or need
if you are interested, i could build you a "crate" type motor and ship it to you.

yeah, ive done the swap a few times, i can literally make a list of all the parts needed and all wiring mods and such, i can build one from scratch ready to drop in.
are you asking for a price on a ready to drop in motor? if so, the best thing to do is find one with a bent rod or a cobra with a blown up motor to get the misc stuff from, i paid 750 for a 99 cobra, it got dropped off at my house and i could take any part i needed, then they got the car when i was done, itll cost alot more to buy everything new, i have a doner car im going to look at today, if you are interested, all you will have to do is buy the forged pistons/rods/crank and have them installed, i think i had 5K in my motor before i did the terminator heads.
