Shocks and Struts with springs?

One of my friends told me that if i buy shorter springs that i should do my shocks and struts too. He said that shorter springs will put more stress on them. Is this true?

I have lowering springs and stock struts and shocks. Its fine.

You can upgrade them at the saem time and that would save you alot of time.

Lowering without shocks and struts is for ricers like Brent.

Also, lowering without CC plates is for ricers, too. Anybody who says you don't need CC plates and an alignment after lowering is a douchebag. Unless you lower like .5". I dropped with Steeda springs and everyone was like: "Nah, you don't need CC plates or an alignment. That's not a big enough drop."

Well, fuck you, everyone. Because my front tires were worn so bad on one side of the tire after a few thousand miles. You should all buy me a new set of Kumhos.

You dont need to buy Shocks and Struts just to lower. You can add that later on. C&C plates I would recommend getting.

still, if you're doing suspension you might as well do it all at once... especially if you have to pay a shop to do it... less labor charges

You definitely do not need them. But if you don't get them you are only lowering for appearance and to mess up your alignment. For performance and handling you need new shocks and struts. And you might as well do it all at once, like dark said.

do it yourself... it takes like 2 hours to change your shocks and struts and another few for the springs

Ok i was hoping i didnt have to do shocks and struts but i am deff not doing it for just looks. So i guess ill just have to save up a little longer and get the whole package. And about the cc plates, how the hell do you adjust them, and if i bring my car to have all the shit put on will the alignment place know?

You dont adjust them the place giving you the alignment does.

You can buy springs and put them on now and wait on the shocks/struts. Why people say do it at the same time is that if you dont do it yourself then you have to go back later on and ppay again for them to basically take apart your car the same way.

It saves you from doing the same thing twice

I got a perfect alignment without CC plates. I even asked them if i should get them and they said no... they got it just fine. With new springs, i would recommend a shock/strut that is meant for a spring rate aroudn what youre getting. If you keep your stock ones, theyll just be a lot bouncier than if you were to upgrade. Jsut do it... its 179 bucks for some tokico shocks and struts from speedconcepts.net

Usually that is the case. Depending on how large your drop is, you can usually get an alignment without CCs to correct it. But you can definitely correct it with CCs, and have them dial in positive caster and negative camber at the same time for better handling.

I recommend getting a set of MM polyurethane swaybar endlinks if you get a drop, as well. They are only $19 and help out your front suspension by relocating your sway bar to keep it parallel to the road.

i plan to pick up some CCs at some point to throw some negative camber on there when im autocrossing... but not just yet. Ive spent a lot of money lately lol

OK here is the deal C&C plates are not generally needed for drops of 1" or less. I droped mine using C springs and had a 1.25" drop and everything lineed up ok but over the next few months my car continued to drop another .25" giving me a 1.5 drop and I then had to get some C&C plates to get the alignment right.

I would say go ahead and get C&C plates while everything is off and save you time. I would also reccommend new Shocks and Struts to feel the best handling performance right from the get go. But if you chhose to wait on the shocks and struts no big deal you will be OK.
