I tried downshifting today from D to 1 at 30mph. I was expecting my rpm to jump up and scream but it felt like i applied the brakes. I thought i was fucking upthe transmission so i popped it back into D. the next time i shifted gears after a stop sign it jerk out of the ordinary then unnoticeably.

shifting back to one from there is not a good thing to do... the only reason you would need anything other than D is if you were towing something..

Uh.. Before you downshift you have to give it a lot of gas to match your RPMs after it shifts. Put it in 2 and go to 20mph, then drop it back to 1 and hit the gas. It will downshift, have plenty of gas, and be fine. I do it like 100 times a day or more.

dont drop it from d to 1 unless you need like some serious braking to avoid an accident or something

There is no problem dropping from D to 2 or D to 1. At all. None. You can do it all you want as long as you know how to do it properly.

exactly, a quick blip of the throttle to match up the rpm's and it doesnt harm a thing, the gap from d-2 is slightly larger then 2-1 so i rev it twice once to get it goin the second to match it from 2-1 you only have enough time for one quick blip. and depending on your speed 25 or less the more it needs to match

if yor at fortymph and drop it to 1 it would be harmful to both the engine and tranny if you keep your foot on the accelarator

Not really. You would just shift right into 6000rpms. If you were at 45+, it won't even downshift.

why does this thread even exist? putting something into a certain gear just allows it to go that high. the computer pwnz joo and will do whatever it wants, so get out of its way. just put it in d without overdrive and stab the gas.

Because there is a lot of misinformation about this. I explained why I do it. Everyone else is like: Oh no. That sounds bad. Don't ever do it. It will kill your car.

Where did I ever say I run better? In fact, I said exactly the opposite. I said you shift quicker in D.
Did you just jump to the end of the thread?

It's cool! You were right about it being slower, so all is good.

I've raced both shifting 1 2 D and only on D and I think I like it best on D. When I shift my car jumps forward a lot, dunno if its good or bad. Either way I'm gonna stick with regular D when racing, it feels better

hes refering to ur 1-2-D shifting thing, just leave it in D and you'll se better results, also do the #1 and #2 for even better results out of only D
