ok im thinking about either buying a eclipse 5 spd or a v6 stang 5 spd. i love the rwd in the stang and all but in all honesty the shifter suck really really bad, it feels like im driving a trunk. on the other hand the mitsu shifts like a dream. but is front wheel drive, and doesnt have the same tq as the stang but is jsut about as fast. but i was to kno is if i get a new shifter whould the stang feel less like a
F-150? thanks for the help

If you get a short throw shifter you will love it. Steedas Tri-ax is my fav.

If you are thinking of making such a big decision on just the shifter, then maybe you should think a little longer

a shifter is the only "must" mod on a car. it's definitely the biggest bang for the buck, and it just *might* save your transmission some grinding over the years.
b&m ripper.
i converted three (3) steed tri ax guys to b&m in about 3 years.

i have a steeda tri-ax on mine and it is very nice. the gears find themselves when i'm shifting. the only thing is you have know when to shift. you don't wanna be wearing out the synchros prematurely.
and how does it feel to drive a trunk?

I like the stock shifter. As a matter of fact, i would like the shifter to be a little longer.

Just a quick question to toss at anyone who might be able to add something...
How much work is involved with changing out the stock shifter to a short shifter?
I understand that would depend on the person doing the work but does anyone by chance have a "how to" to add on this one?

what stang are you testing, the pre 99s i can see but the 99s up will take an eclipse easy.....and a new shifter will make a world of difference, and on another note the stang is tons cheaper and tons easier to work on, heck you can buy a nice motor or tranny for 600 bucks~

a little quicker... the auto sure but the manual will have a half second + on the eclipse (new one) and one second on the older ones lol.
just sell the car and buy a used 5 speed they are very cheap resale value is sad.
