That is plagued with half truths. The fact is the quote "Iraqi government cannot stand alone until we have trained at least 150,000 to 200,000 troops. we are about 2 years from that. Actually we do not have a civil war there it is civil disobedience and non Iraqi insurgents fighting and murdering. What really gets me is the recent pull out of the Philippian humanitarian forces there. Those SOB's really have screwed up,with less than a week the number of hostages taken has doubled. The Philippians rely on us to help them with there own problem with terrorist in the Southern part of the Philippians. We has around 10,000 troops helping train, supply and carry out search and destroy missions in the jungles rooting out the al-Qaida-linked Abu Sayyaf terror group. I suggest leaving the Philippians and let them wallow in their own terror problem.

Yep, just like with Spain after the train bombings. They might as well have come straight out and told the terrorists that their tactics work and given them a pat on the back for their effectiveness.

No matter who or what people are in the Government of Iraq after our removal of Saddams regime they would be called puppets by some. So really the term puppet is bogus and irrelevant

corey, the point is is that the so called "government" isn't in control of iraq, the US government is. we're pressing the buttons and pulling the strings, thus "puppet"

Speaking of a civil war I wouldn't be suprised if we saw one in our country within our lifetimes.

Those who fail to heed history are doomed to repeat it, or so they say.
Every country we have conquered or liberated depending on your "opinion" started with a so called puppet government. We sure ain't gonna just hand the keys over to the people who let sodamn insane stay in power till we are satisfied another despotic murderer isn't gonna roll back in charge.
If that is too hard to understand then you are hopeless.

But that is wrong.We did not pick the new naew temp Iraqi president or OPrime minister the Iraqi governing council did. The new guy was not on any of our list. You need to understand in less than a year there will be elections and the enemy does not want that to happen. Our only real goal there right now is security plain and simple. Which is something they need help with until we have trained sufficient number to do it themselves. Nation building is tough when it is from scratch. What has made this a different type of rebuild is that we never had a surrender or a complete destruction of the country we were fighting. Germany was laid to waste with nobody left to fight and no weapons left to fight with. When we entered Berlin the germany army consisted of 13 yr olds with makeshift single shot gunsthat misfired most of the time. We nuked Japan into submission and they lost all the will to fight.
No Iraq is a differnt kind of place because we did not want to destroy everything. The problem is porous borders that allow insurgent in easily and the amout of ordinance left piled up all over the country. Something that most people do not realize because of the media is 2 months ago when several cities were inflammed in fierce battles with Insurgents we killed over 4000 of them and a hand full of us. to date we have lost 900 since the start of the war and the enemy is approaching 40,000 or more dead. During the war they lost over 20,000, and that is just the bodies we found
