1997 Mustang, Standard
Okay, my left front speaker (driver door) makes a REALLY weird buzzing noise whenever anything is played through. None of the other speakers do this. Doesn't matter if it's music or talk radio... same problem. Don't know how long it's been doing this for because I bought it used and was already doing it when I purchased. An audio friend of mine told me that a screw might be loose or something. I was gonna have him, look to make sure nothing was wrong with the speaker, but I can't pop the grille off. I stuck a flat head under it, but it's so tight that it seems like it's going to break if I go any further. I'm hoping that I don't have to take my door apart to get to one speaker. Please help me out.
Also, there is a little hole right next to the speaker on the side closest to the door hinge. Anyone know what that's for?
Thanks.

remove the plastic panel w/ the window switches, etc on it.
remove the switches from the panel.
place the plastic panel elsewhere.
lift up on the whole door panel from the bottom of the door and maybe slightly pull towards you.
should pop right up and out
probably that plastic crap all over the inside, try not to move much of that.
speaker shouldnt be behind the plastic crap, but if it is, just peel it up right there, speaker will be right there.
to assemble, read directions in reverse

Good thing you didn't. The speaker grille is made in one piece with the door panel. It's really easy to take off. Takes like 7 minutes. Follow WhitStang's instructions and you'll be fine.

Also, my thing doesn't have switches on it (fully UNloaded car) so I'm guessing it'll be easier to move, but when I remove it, can I just use a flat head?

That plastic "crap" seals out debris and moisture from the speaker/switches from anything getting in through the window seal.
And taking the door panel off is very easy.

Why are you so intent on using a flat head? And taking the door panel off is like a 30 second procedure, but if you have manual windows, you'll need a tool to pop off the handle, unless you're good with other tools lol

:-( no tool, guess I'll need a few flat heads and a wedge ;-) hehe
Seriously though, is there any special way I need to remove the panel where the switches would be, or can I just pop it of WITH a flat head?

From what I remember about pre-99 stangs with manual windows, you should pop the handle off the window roll-up thingy (don't remember what it's called), then pull up on the door panel. It should release and then you work the door handle back through the door panel and the panel will come right off. You can then move it wherever you want it and get to the speaker with no problem.

that plastic film, just as Funky said, is to seal out moisture and the like.
I've never had a stang w/ manual windows, so I guess follow the other's instructions.
I don't even need a tool to take off that plastic thing, you know where ur arm goes and it has a little cup. I just pull the part out w/ my fingers, you can see an indention in it. Pull that out, it'll pop out of it's little connector clip, then sorta wiggle it up. It's more of a pain to put back on just right, it's not difficult at all though.

Thanks for your help everyone. Gonna go to sleep, then to school, and then to the door of my Mustang where I will try to dismantle my door and hopefully fix my sound problem.
BTW, love the Cobra/Shepherd thing. Nice!
