What's the meaning of modular engine and is the 3.9L V6 a modular engine ?

modular basically means that ford uses it in more than one car and all the parts are interchangeable inbetween those different vehicles

The v6 is not considered a modular engine. I suppose it could, but modular means: an independant unit contain electric components that can be incorporated into a computer system. The "new" 4.6 SOHC, and DOHC engines and the 5.4 engine are considered the modualr ones. Our V6 is still considered a pushrod engine.

Modular motor means shared engine assemblies across and entire family of motors cutting cost and overhead. All the Ford V8 motors today are this way.
