mac users

i just got an powerbook g4. its all new and stuff i got it through school with what they say is 14,000 in software and i believe it it has everything. i movie, vectorworks which i know is over 1k. but anyways i am trying to get it to connect to my internet here and it wont...... i thought macs were "plug an play" heha, anyways i hook up the ethernet cable and POW! nothing.... any one who can help let me know i tryed the whole mac version network thingy, and it asked for all kinds of addresses and crap, is there an easier way?

Mac's aren't any more user friendly than an XP machine, IMO. I've used them a few times before, but don't have a clue on setting one up.

its not that they are as unfriendly.. they are unknown, as a whole to the general public. macs are amazing machines, far far better for graphics and video editing along with audio, and they have amazing 3d rendering programs, and since im an architechual student, the 3drendering programs are a must and will crash any pc in an hour. i have tryed it.. pcs just cant handle them i dont know why. ok thanks again ill look around and figure something out

I use a Mac/Apple in the recording studio... Definately the best machine for audio production... Along with ProTools...

Back on subject... I dont know how to solve your prob, Im not that inclined with a Mac... Ill ask my buddy that I know that works with them all the time and see what his solution is... Good luck!

I don't know what Mac OS you're using...
but if you go to the apple menu and go to control panel there is a TCP/IP menu. From there where it says IP address you should have an option like "assigned by ISP"... I think all you need to do from there is restart.

look for MAC User Forums, should be some good help there for ya, and I must agree the MAC is the Graphix users best friend for video editing!

I think that you have 1 year of free Technical Support with every new Mac... call the hotline... those people know what they're talking about
