This guy over at mustangforums.com keep saying he was getting 230rwhp for his 2002 V6 5-speed. No cam, head, or intakes. Here's his post:
i have a new cam in my car, it added some serious power but i put it in myself. if you have a shop put it in it will cost triple that of the cam. go with easy stuff like intake, exhaust, bigger TB and 1.8 roller rockers. my car made over 230 rwhp before the cam with simple bolt-ons.
And his reply to my B.S. call:
i got 1.8 roller rockers, better valve springs, dyno tuned diablo chip, longtube headers with bassani cats and fow 30s, pro-m mass air, custom 3.5 inch intake manifold spacer, phelonic spacer for intake manifold, bbk 70mm tb, port matched tb to intake manifold, royal purple synthetics in engine, tranny and rear end, and some more stuff i can't remember. i don't have heads or intake manifold. and before you call b.s. remember the pre-99 v6s wer rated almost 40 hp less than the 99+ v6s. my car runs 14.095@96.64 before DA correction. what do you have done to your car to have 280-290 hp? what is your time in the 1/4? judging by your 1/8 mile time mid-14s is my guess. my hp is rated at the wheels where it counts not the flywheel.

I know this, that's why i went over there to set them straight and invite them over here so they don't get their hopes and dreams shot down when they go to the dyno and see they're only getting 190rwhp instead of the 300rwhp they thought they had.

you will be lucky to get 200rwhp with out going heads/cam/intakes with intakes along you should be able to break 200rwhp but 230 is impossible with out more than just simple bolt ons, every dyno is a little different perhaps he is not lieing the dyno just did it for him also he may be running a shot on it who knows, bottom line is its not gonna happen.... ill be putting down 240rwhp and tq maybe after heads/cam/intake with my bolt ons....

I thought so too!!! I hope this guy doesn't really think he can get away with this stuff. And I asked if i was worng, cause I thought I was slipping at my old age of 24. I don't know if you guy saw, but i challenged him to come out to the meet on Oct 2nd. Lets see if he does.

Actually guys When i went to get my V6 tuned by Pete and Jerry (former Fordchip) There was a V6 there wit some bolt ons and a cam and he ended up making 233 rwhp. So it is possible I do know the cam was some custom one. His name on 3.8 and V6 if I remember correctly was ChromeYellowStang and ShadowStang (something along those lines)
But it has happen I dunno if that douch actually got it but it has happen

with a cam i would be suspicious, but it can be done, this guy is claiming the power before the cam was installed.
