I just recently got a 2007 Stage 2 Roush Mustang. I haven't really played with it much as of yet which sucks as I am currently stuck on a deployment in Iraq for the next year.
I was looking at it and well a 2004 Saleen S281 mustang also. I went for the new Roush because it had less miles on the engine and was still under a warranty. Which is better honestly??
Whats the difference between the Roush Stage 2 and regular GT, everyone just says it's just a body kit and interior but I figured you all would know more than me. Did I make the right decision for the good performance with the Roush or should i go and buy the Saleen? If I picked up the Saleen I would keep the Roush as a project car and build it up. I
'm just wanting to know which one to use for the most power output and the cheapest way to go. any help would be awesome and appreciated.

The are both regular GT Mustangs with add-on's.
The Roush Stage 1, 2 or 3 are base GT mustangs with different things. The Stage 1 is just a looks package. The State 2 is the looks package and then the handling package. The Stage 3 is the looks, handling, and the performance package. The stage 3 puts it up around 425hp/tq on 05+ mustangs over the stock 300hp using a roots supercharger.
The Saleen S281 in 2004 is a base GT with a bit more pep, pretty much 275hp or so. They made a Saleen Extreme that was a built engine but they are much more expensive. The Saleen is also offered with a supercharger option (roots supercharger) as well but, like the Roush, it may or may not have this. If it does they are around 350-400hp at the engine.
The 99-04 Mustang GT's with the 4.6L SOHC V8 will make maximum (without building the engine) 400-450rwhp/tq being safe. The 2005-2009 will put out about 450 as well and be safe.
If you want more power than this you will need to consider a GT500 or a 2003/2004 cobra, both of which in stock form are better in the power department than the Saleen S281 or the Roush Stage 3.

Thanks alot, that helps out alot, The Saleen Mustang i was looking at does have the Supercharger under the hood i took a look at it when i was looking. the Roush has a Roush CAI on it but i don't know if that was stock or done by the previous owner. I'd love to get a GT500 but, I can't afford that right now, i'm thinking about getting the Roush SC for it and just leave it as a stage 3 and be done with it, they are both very nice cars i love the body style but i might just work up to 450 HP or a lil' less and i'll be happy, cinsidering that the more HP the more it sucks the gas haha and with gas prices it sucks lately.but thanks alot for the detailed discription on what to do and it's very helpful. if anyone else has anything to say though it would also be appreciated.

Supercharged vehicles dont get worse gas mileage unless you get on the gas. Mine overall gets really good (19-21 average 50/50 mix, more on the interstate).
Its just very expensive to do a blower upgrade

hell yeah we do, but it's all good, i'll probably get a supercharger and a little bit of nitrous injection and just have the engine built up a bit by a local company that i know of, i'm only looking to spend no more than 15k on the engine for the car, i figure it'll be plenty of power for me to play with. I have a RX7 right now that's putting down 700hp but it's twin turboed and has a 20b engine in it. it's a fun toy to but i've always wanted a mustang since i was a kid.

What did you get the 20b out of?
How in the world did you twin turbo a 20b there is absolutley no room under the hood for that. The biggest turbo ive ever seen on a 20b is like a 40 trim. And for that they had to beat the hell out of the inner fender on the passenger side.

I myself didnt' do it, i just sent it into a shop, i bought the 20b off the internet from a rotary website and told a shop what i wanted done to it and they did it. it looks to of fit nicely in it, no super huge modifications to it. but the shop i sent it to specialized in RX7's so what exactly they did i'm not sure, but it fits and it's quite the nice ride

Kinda depends on mileage and how straight the body is. Thats about the going price for them. And Yellow FTW.

ah, i was thinking that but i had no idea... only a few cars can pull off yellow and i've seen them in person in yellow and they don't look do bad, i'd life a red or black cobra but that color is to played out ... yellow is a different color. it's not to bad though... i guess it'd be cool since it's not seen alot
