Doesn't idle down.

I have a stock '02. When you're driving and push in the clutch, it takes what seems like too long before the engine returns to idle speed. A friend of mine thought they might have put a heavier flywheel in the V6's to compensate for less power? Any intel appreciated.

that is normal. the ECM reads the car's speed and holds the idle up for a while. It will do it if you have an auto and shift into nuteral aslo

Is there anyway to alter that? It's the only manual tranny i've ever driven that does it, so naturally it feels wrong. It also makes it hard to engine brake.

You can get a hand held tuner and change the rpm decay rate of the motor. Or put a lighter flywheel on it.

my 01 v6 did the SAME thing. A tuner and modify the idle decay rate and fix your issue

Had the same issue Once I got A SCT Chip they decrease the dashpots and idle decay rate and solved the problem Ford will say it's normal due to emission control to burn off excess fuel that it is controlled by the computer and they can't do a thing about it
