That thing is so messed up right now, I can't ever get it to format the drive and reinstall XP. I think something might be fried.  |

It's not the first time this has happened. Got the blue screen that gave the error message "UNLOADABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". I haven't installed anything new on it.
So I went back to reinstall Windows XP. Started to delete it and reinstall XP when it said that it couldn't finish the install and then restart. It's been one big circle with this Dell 4300. It's like the third time it's done this since I've got it.
Oh, the computer also made this loud whining noise when it sat there for awhile. I'm guessing it was the fan. |

mine wouldnt format when i installed xp on a friends computer, what you need to do is take teh harddrive out of the computer switch it to a slave mode and put it in another computer then after you turn the other computer back on it will recognize it then go to c drive and right click on the CORRECT HARD DRIVE and in the options it will let you reformat it, after this it should work if it will at all.

I use ME for just that reason. Every time one of my friends with XP has a problem, I tell them they're up the creek. |
