I know its prob not in the right topic area but o well. work a CD player out of a 99 Explorer fit into my 02 crown Vic? they are both the large CD players (ford big ones) but would the wires work? if you need pics ill try to get some

the harnesses might not be the same, but you could prolly figure out which one is battery, ground, 12v constant, and then speakers youll have to fiddle with and figure out which ones are rear, front, left and right, might take a while. maybe a chiltons or haynes from both cars would make life easier.

Do they both go in the slot the same? I believe the exploders have the holes on the sides you stick the ford tools into to remove the radio. That's the first thing I'd worry about. Otherwise...just experiment with wires is all i can say...what I did on my car was look at an aftermarket harness adapter made for the stang and traced wires through the harness to the original wires and labeled them all.

it's not a big deal. if you were in S.A., i could wire it up for you.

the easiest way to do it is to go to best buy. buy a harness for your car, cut the wires and splice them onto the harness wires. then the radio will just plug in.

this can also be done without a harness. you just splice all the wires together. it's easy, but if the colors are different, it can take a little while to do. i reccomend the harness. it only costs ~$15

I seriously doubt that ford changed wiring harnesses in cars.

Hey don't forget if you don't want to cut wires to get a wire adapter for the explorer it will clip right on and then all you have to do it figure out the mustang wires and no wires to cut.

hah thanks Brent, we are going to check it on friday. BTW I was talkin about my Vic, not my stang. also cause my vic is a PI, the front 2 speakers are set up for a 800mhz (or anyother band) radio. I only use the rear speakers thus the reason i dont want to cut any wires. thanks for the help/
