1965 Ford Mustang

The 1965 Ford Mustang brought many new options such as the Fastback, two new engines including one for the newly introduced Shelby Mustang and the introduction of the Mustang GT.

1965 Mustang GT
The first Mustang GT was introduced in April of 1965. They were available in all three body styles and they came with two optional V-8 engines with either 225 or 271 horsepower. Transmission choices were either a three or four speed manual, or a Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The Mustang GT had stripes on the lower body sides, fog lamps in the grille, dual exhaust tips, and GT badges on the front fenders. You could purchase the Mustang GT package for an additional $165.03.

1965 Shelby Mustang
In 1965 Shelby entered into the Mustang world. All the 1965 Shelby Mustangs were fastbacks, Wimbledon White with black interior and had Guardsman Blue stripes. Shelby dropped in a 289 to power it and increased the power to 306 horsepower from the GT’s 271 Horsepower. There were a total of 564 1964 Shelby Mustangs created.
