2009 Mustang Production Estimated At 45,000

With the many 2010 Mustang rumors, the 2009 Mustang is expected to be the last year before the next face lift which may be why leaked production numbers for the 2009 Ford Mustang are so low, at just 45,000. If the estimate holds it will be the lowest production run for the Mustang in it’s 45 year history with 1992 being the current lowest. This may be a problem considering last year over 130,000 Ford Mustangs were sold. Will there be dealer markups on the 2009? I don’t think so, as many people will be saving their next Mustang purchase for the highly anticipated 2010 Mustang.

    I’d probably buy the 2011 or 2012.

First year production car scares me.

This decision by Ford is a mystery to me. In 1998, everybody knew the new edge shaped SN95 was coming out in 1999, but they still sold over 175,000 units in 1998, almost 68,000 more than 1997, and 40,000 more than 1996. The 2010 change from the current model is even less dramatic than the the change that happened when they moved from 1998 to the new edge SN95 model. I understand it’s going to be a reshaped S197. The sales numbers since 2005 show the current platform is still very strong in the market. This makes no sense to me……

The 2010 is a freshing of the existing car so the “first year production” concern is a non issue.

    09′s collectable? – don’t bet on it.

The production is low on the 09′s because of a shorter production year – with the early release of the 2010′s, plus the fact that the poor EPA numbers of the current cars has a glut of very slow selling 08′s still sitting at the dealers. Do I care???

I just bought a new 08 245ci with 5 spd manual & my first full tank (after the complimentary dealer fill) delivered 24mpg – about 2/3 city, 1/3 hwy. Heck of a nice car. Lovin’ it!!!
